Note from Mrs. Ratner
Dear Scott Families,
Even though it was a four-day week, we packed in lots of learning, laughter, and exciting experiences.
This week, our students participated in a successful fire drill alongside the fire department, engaged in meaningful conversations and learning connected to our core school subjects and enjoyed some special moments through pet therapy.
Next week brings even more adventures! Our fifth graders will head out for their Outdoor Education field trip, our Structured Learning students will enjoy a trip to Sonny Acres, and some students will have the opportunity to explore the Star Lab. There is certainly a lot to look forward to!
Please consider joining us on Monday for our Core Communtiy Chat through the district's Forward Together Initiative (more information below). After that, we would love to have you stay for our monthly Home & School Meeting. Both of these will take place in our library.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. I hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend, and I am looking forward to another great week at Scott.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tracey Ratner
Principal, Scott School

CORE Community Chat - October 19th at 6:00 PM
Open to all Scott Community & Family Members: Please join us before our monthly October Home & School meeting to participate in the Forward Together CORE chats portion of the Forward Together (often referred to as Forward Together 2032) initiative by our District 203.
What to Expect:
CORE Chats are intimate, facilitated, 30–45 minute small-group conversations hosted across district school sites. Designed to prioritize active listening, these sessions ensure every participant’s voice is heard through equitable sharing rules (such as a 2–3 minute talking guideline).
Who Participates?
Each building will hold three separate CORE chats, one for students, one for staff, and one for our families.
- Students: Engagement through Principal Advisory Councils, focus groups, and advisory sessions.
- Staff: Dedicated sessions held during staff meetings, institute days, or designated collaborative times.
- Community & Families: Evening and out-of-school-day sessions hosted at local schools in partnership with Home & School (H&S) groups.
Forward Together is a community engagement and strategic initiative launched by Naperville Community Unit School District 203. For more information please visit HERE.
Schedule:
6PM - CORE Chats small group conversations / Light refreshments will be served
7PM - Scott H&S Monthly meeting
Here is a preview of the questions that will be discussed in small groups during the CORE chat:
- Picture a 2032 graduate who is truly thriving out in the world. What does the Naperville 203 school environment need to look like to make sure our schools are delivering those specific skills and experiences? What should we stop doing to make room for it?
- Trust is built or broken in the micro-moments. Think about a time when you or someone you know felt a disconnect or a breakdown in trust with the district or a school. Without naming names, what exactly went wrong in that interaction, and how could it have been handled differently to preserve the relationship?
- Sometimes, what we want to preserve (like academic success or traditional programming) directly clashes with what we need to evolve (like student mental health, balance, and new pathways). When our community's desire for tradition collides with our need for future innovation, how should Naperville 203 navigate that tension?
Core Connection: Lightspeed Parent Controls Workshop
Core Connection: Lightspeed Parent Controls Workshop
The initially planned AI Family Guide Core Connection conversation is being rescheduled to January 20 due to team availability. In its place, families are invited to join Matt Langes, Director of Innovation & Learning, and Art Andersen, Director of IT, for a hands-on Core Connection focused on helping families better understand and use Lightspeed Parent Controls.
The session will include a brief overview of how the tool works, followed by workshop time for families to get set up, explore available settings, and ask questions.
Families are encouraged to bring their child’s District device, along with a personal phone or device they use at home. SAs and/or Technology Support Associates will be available throughout the session to provide individual support and help troubleshoot questions.
Outcome: Families will leave with a clearer understanding of Lightspeed Parent Controls, how to access and use available features, and how the tool can support conversations and expectations around technology use at home.
Event Details: October 21, 2026 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Location: Naperville North High School: Learning Commons

School Fees Now Available in SchoolCash Online
School fees are now available for families to view and pay through SchoolCash Online.
You should have recieved an automated email from SchoolCash Online. Please check for a message from noreply@schoolcashonline.com and check your Spam or Junk folder if you do not see it in your inbox.
Haven’t set up your SchoolCash Online account yet?
Families who have not yet created an account should do so to view and pay school fees online. Your SchoolCash Online account uses the email address the District has on file in Infinite Campus.
As we shared earlier this year, the October 1 timing allows the District to align fees with finalized class schedules and applicable fee-waiver information, helping provide families with a more accurate statement and fewer adjustments.
SchoolCash Online gives families a secure, convenient way to view and pay school fees online 24/7. All fee statements will be provided electronically; paper fee statements will not be sent home or mailed.
Thank you for your partnership as we transition to SchoolCash Online.

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Thank you to everyone for following our arrival and dismissal procesdures in order to get students in and out of school in the safest way possible. It truly has made a difference. I just wanted to provide a few reminders that will help to keep our processes safe and efficient.
- Please remember to always keep pulling forward as much as possible, regardless of whether or not a staff member is waving your forward.
- Please adhere to the No Parking signs on Warwick Avenue.
- Please do not pull around other cars, regardless of whether or not the cones are there.
- The Naperville Police Department designed the flow of traffic years ago, recommending a one way traffic pattern on Warwick during arrival and dismissal. We are having a good number of cars not following the arrows in the picture below, which is decreasing safety.
- Students cannot play on the playground right after school. They either need to go home and check-in with a parent or a parent needs to meet them at the playground after school. Students cannot play on the playground while waiting for a parent to come and get them from school.
