Congratulations to Candace Markle — October Teacher of the Month! Congratulations to Candace Markle — October Teacher of the Month!

We are proud to celebrate Mrs. Markle, a devoted kindergarten teacher at Carlisle Elementary School, who has been recognized as this month’s “Teacher of the Month” by WTWO and DC Metal for her outstanding dedication and positive impact in the classroom.

Why Mrs. Markle was selected:

  • She brings energy and enthusiasm to every kindergarten lesson, making learning both fun and meaningful for her young scholars.

  • Her commitment to meeting each child where they are ensures students are building strong foundational skills—academically, socially, and emotionally.

  • Mrs. Markle models continuous improvement and collaboration, engaging with colleagues and families to strengthen the home–school connection.

  • Her positive, inclusive classroom culture fosters curiosity, respect, and success for each student.

What this means for Carlisle school:

  • Having a teacher of this caliber enhances the entire learning environment at Carlisle Elementary, encouraging excellence and collaboration across grades.

  • Mrs. Markle’s recognition shines a light on the value of early childhood education and the outsized impact kindergarten teachers have on students’ trajectories.

  • We celebrate Mrs. Markle not just for her classroom work, but for how she embodies our district’s commitment to student growth, community engagement, and educational innovation.

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Markle for this well-deserved honor. Her passion for teaching and her dedication to our youngest learners exemplify what we stand for in the district—quality instruction, caring relationships, and continuous improvement.
