2023-2024 October Newsletter
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well and filled with excitement as we approach the end of the first quarter of the school year. We wanted to take a moment to share some important information with you about the upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences and reflect on the fantastic journey we've had so far.
We are thrilled to report that our first quarter of school has been nothing short of amazing! Our dedicated teachers and enthusiastic students have seamlessly transitioned into the learning journey, and together, we've achieved incredible milestones. Beyond classroom academics, we've had the privilege of experiencing numerous memorable moments, including:
Welcoming Doane Practicum Students
High-Five Friday Greeters Spreading Positivity
Visits from Senior High School Students
Spirited Pep Rallies
An Exciting Homecoming Celebration
These experiences have enriched our school community and created lasting memories for all. We hope your little one has been sharing these exciting moments and their learning adventures with you at home!
As we near the end of the first quarter, it's essential to highlight the significance of Parent-Teacher Conferences. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity for you to connect with your child's teacher, gain insights into their academic progress, and discuss their overall development. It's a chance to celebrate your child's achievements, address any concerns, and set goals for the future.
During the conferences, you can expect to:
Review your child's academic performance in various subjects.
Understand your child's strengths and areas for improvement.
Discuss strategies for continued growth and success.
Explore ways to support your child's learning at home.
Forge a strong partnership with your child's teacher to ensure their success.
We encourage you to actively participate in these conferences as they play a pivotal role in your child's educational journey. Your engagement and collaboration with our teachers are essential for your child's success.
Details regarding the scheduling of Parent-Teacher Conferences will be shared with you shortly, including available dates and times.
Once again, we want to express our gratitude for your continued support and partnership. Together, we are creating a nurturing and enriching environment for our students to thrive and learn.
If you have any questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to reach out to our school office.
We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences and celebrating the achievements of our fantastic students.

Skip Flu clinic 2023
Public Health Solutions will be offering the SKIP Flu Immunization clinic for Elementary and Intermediate School students and families on October 30th from 12:30-5:30.
The immunization clinic will be held at the Public Health Solutions office 830 East 1st Street Suite 300. This is a non-school day for Crete Public Schools. Informational packets and permission forms will be sent home in Thursday packets on October 19th.
Please take the completed forms with you to the immunization clinic.
Popcorn Day
This month 2nd grade will be selling popcorn on Friday, 10/20/23. Please contact a 1st grade teacher if you can help out. Popcorn sells for $.50 a bag.
Fall Celebration
We will be having Fall Classroom Celebrations in all classrooms on Friday, October 27th. More information will be coming home from your child’s teacher. Teachers will be putting individual classroom times and events in their newsletters. All treats need to be store bought and packaged from the approved USDA Smart list.
We want the celebrations to continue, and we've tried to make it as easy as possible to comply with the new policy. Suppose you want to provide a treat for a celebration and don't want to worry about the new guidelines. In that case, you can fill out a Celebration Treat Order Form at least three days before the preferred celebration date, turn it in to the school office, and we will take care of the rest. You can find the Celebration Treat Order Form by clicking here.
We also know that shopping for treats can be a great opportunity to spend time together as a family. If you'd like to shop for your own treats, you can find the list of approved USDA Smart treats by clicking here. This list includes treats that are peanut and tree-nut aware. We also encourage you to consider non-food items (pencils, stickers, mochis, friendship bracelets, etc.) to send with your student(s) for celebrations.
Water Bottles
All students PreK-2 have received a water bottle supplied by the school. There are many benefits of drinking water at school.
Water can help improve a child's cognitive function so that they learn more efficiently.
Water can also help boost a student's immune system and fight off possible infections from other students they encounter.
Providing access to drinking water gives students a healthy alternative to sugar-sweetened beverages.
All water bottles are cleaned every Wednesday and Friday in the cafeteria.
