Greetings, Warrior Nation Families!
We will see a flurry of activities move into tournament seasons and state-level competitions in the month of March. Please watch our social media pages for celebrations of the great things Warrior Nation is doing. The All-Activities night for the 2025-26 school year will be at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27. This is for all students and families who may be interested in participating in any activity for the 2025-2026 school year.
A reminder that there is no school on Friday, March 14.
From our attendance office, a reminder for those of you that are using Parent Portal to email about when your student will be gone, you can only enter full-day absences into the Parent Portal system. If your student is arriving late or leaving during the day for an appointment, you will need to call the school at 605.367.7970 to report that. We do have a 24 hour voicemail system, so you can report those appointments and partial-day absences at your convenience.
Spring parent teacher conferences are Monday, March 10 from 4:00 - 7:30 in person and Monday, March 17 from 4:00 - 7:30 virtually. We hope to see you at the in-person conferences and if you are not able to attend the first night, please watch your email for communication on how to sign up for virtual conferences.
Midterm grades for the second semester will be posted by Tuesday, March 25. Please encourage your students to show you their grades and attendance. We know that students who attend every class, every day, are statistically much more likely to earn credit in their courses. (And they are also more likely to learn!!!)
For your planning purposes, our juniors will be taking the South Dakota Summative Assessment (SDSA) April 2nd - 4th. The SDSA consists of tests in the areas of Math, English, and Science. The English and Math tests are given annually in grades 3 - 8 and 11. The Science test is given in grades 5, 8, and 11. These summative assessments help us, as a school and a district, make decisions about curriculum and instruction that will help prepare all students for success outside of high school. Families of junior students will be receiving communication from Mrs. Papke later this month that details the importance of these assessments and how they impact your student. We will also have a variety of activities planned for our freshmen and sophomores on these days. The daily schedules for those testing days will be sent out via email later this month. Our 9th graders will have a chance to tour the Career and Technical Education program. The CTE Academy houses many unique programs in a wide range of career options. Check out their programs here: https://www.ctea.sf.k12.sd.us/o/ctea Our sophomores will have the opportunity to tour post-secondary interests at Southeast Technical College. Students completed an interest-inventory that helps guide which post-secondary experience they do.
We know that many, many hours go into helping students achieve success - hours spent by parents, extended family, teachers, mentors, coaches, other students, and friends. We are so grateful for all that you are doing to support your student. As always, if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the school by emailing or calling.

Everybody Reads
📚 Welcome to the Fourth Annual Everybody Reads Community Reading Initiative! 📚
🗓 March 1st – March 31st, 2025
Reading is more fun when we do it together, and this year, our community reading challenge is bigger than ever! Sioux Falls School District and the Siouxland Libraries are excited to welcome Augustana University and the University of Sioux Falls into the mix as we set our most ambitious goal yet—350,000 books read! Whether it’s a novel, a memoir, or a favorite childhood classic, every page turned helps foster a love of reading and supports literacy for all. Students can fill out sticker gumballs with the books they read in March to receive a sweet treat to celebrate the joy of reading.
Best of all, reaching our goal means giving back! Thanks to our generous donors, a donation will be made to REACH Literacy, helping provide valuable literacy resources in the Sioux Falls community.
This year’s theme is “Reading is Sweet”, so treat yourself (and your family!) to a great book this March and be part of something amazing. Let’s make reading a habit, a joy, and a way to give back—together!
