WEEK OF MARCH 31st WEEK OF MARCH 31st

4th 9 Weeks Reminders

As we continue the final nine weeks of the school year, we need your support in encouraging students to:

  • Stay focused

  • Make positive choices

  • Persevere through challenges

Recently, we have seen an increase in off-task and disruptive behaviors, particularly during recess and on the bus. These spaces should be safe and positive for all students. Please remind your child to:
  • Follow expectations
  • Treat others with kindness

  • Make responsible choices

We have also noticed an increase in disrespectful behavior toward staff. While we understand that questions and concerns may arise, we ask families to:
  • First reach out to the classroom teacher

  • If further support is needed, contact administration

  • Address concerns directly and respectfully with the appropriate staff members

Tomahawk is a community built on respect, collaboration, and a shared commitment to student success. Your partnership is essential in ensuring a positive and productive end to the school year. Thank you for reinforcing these expectations at home and helping us maintain a supportive learning environment for all.

Morning Drop-Off Morning Drop-Off

Parents, please do not arrive earlier than 8:00 AM for student drop-off. Arriving too early blocks staff parking access, which has been an ongoing issue despite previous reminders. Our doors do not open until 8:15 AM, and the line moves quickly once the process begins.

🚨 If you arrive too early, you will be asked to pull into a parking space in the back lot.

To keep the line moving efficiently:
✅ Make sure your child is ready to exit when the line starts moving.
✅ Say your goodbyes before reaching the drop-off zone.
✅ Adults should remain in the vehicle at all times.

✅ Do not release your child unless a Tomahawk staff member is present.

✅ Anyone arriving after 8:40 is considered tardy, and will need to be escorted into the office.

⚠️ Safety First! Please watch your speed in the parking lot and yield to buses.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our drop-off process smooth and safe for everyone! 🚘💙

Student Water Bottle Expectations Student Water Bottle Expectations

Purpose:
Tomahawk Intermediate School is committed to promoting student health, hydration, and wellness. These procedures ensure that all students have regular access to water throughout the school day while maintaining a safe and structured learning environment.

  • Student Access to Water
    • Students are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle to school daily.

    • Water fountains and bottle-filling stations will be available throughout the building for refills.

    • Teachers shall allow students to access water bottles during instructional time.

    • Water bottles should be placed on the desk's corner, under the desk on the floor, or in a designated classroom area to prevent spills and distractions. The location shall not limit their access during instructional time.
    • Refilling should be done during transitions, recess, or lunch—not during instructional time.
  • Water Bottles in PE, Recess & Lunch
    • All students must bring their water bottles to Physical Education (PE) and recess to stay hydrated, especially during warm weather.

    • Students without a water bottle may use designated water fountains but are encouraged to bring one for convenience.

    • Students are also asked to bring their water bottles to lunch to ensure they have water access during their meal.

  • Water Bottle Specifications
    • ✅ No bottle should be larger than 32 oz. in size.

    • ✅ Bottles must have a screw-on cap (no straw lids).

    • ✅ Bottles must ONLY contain water (no juice, Gatorade, PRIME, etc.).

    • ✅ We recommend students bring clear plastic bottles if possible.

  • Hygiene and Responsibility
    • Students are responsible for keeping their water bottles clean and taking them home regularly for washing.

    • Teachers and staff will remind students to take care of their bottles but will not be responsible for lost or unclean bottles.

  • Exceptions and Accommodations
    • Students with medical conditions requiring special hydration needs should inform the school nurse for necessary accommodations.

    • Teachers may limit water bottle use if disruptions during instructional time become a concern, addressing issues on a case-by-case basis.

By following these expectations, Tomahawk Intermediate School ensures that students remain hydrated and focused while maintaining a healthy and safe learning environment. Thank you for supporting student wellness!

Our Lost and Found rack is overflowing with items! If your child is missing a hoodie, lunchbox, water bottle, or other item, please have them check the Lost and Found, which is located directly outside of the cafeteria. It would also be helpful if student names were written inside of personal items so that we can return them to the rightful owner when misplaced.
