Wiggin Street Parent Update
October 16, 2026
Welcome
Dear Wiggin Street Families,
What a wonderful week of celebrating our Wiggin Street Kids! We had so many opportunities to recognize positive behavior, encourage healthy habits, and enjoy time with our amazing Kenyon College partners!
π Wiggin Street Kenyon Awards
On Thursday, we celebrated 24 students (two from each classroom) who were selected to receive the Wiggin Street Kenyon Award for demonstrating outstanding behavior!
Our students enjoyed a special pizza lunch, generously provided by the Kenyon Office of Collaborations, along with snacks and drinks from our wonderful PTO.
The highlight of the lunch was watching the Kenyon men's soccer players spread out among the tables, connecting with our students through genuine conversations. It was heartwarming to hear the athletes sharing stories about where they are from and getting to know our Wiggin Street Kids. Following lunch, everyone headed to the Kenyon Athletic Center gym for a fun game of Sharks and Minnows!
We are so grateful for this partnership and the positive relationships being built between our students and Kenyon athletes!
π Team Tressel Fitness Challenge Assembly
Our 3rdβ5th grade students had an exciting afternoon Thursday as they attended the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge Assembly!
A HUGE thank you to former Ohio State football player DeVier Posey and the Kenyon College student-athletes for bringing their energy, enthusiasm, and inspiration to Wiggin Street!
Students learned about the importance of developing healthy habits through physical activity, good nutrition, quality sleep, and an attitude of gratitude. These outstanding role models reminded our students that hard work, determination, and healthy choices can help them reach their goals!
π¦Έ PBIS Extra Recess Celebration
We ended Thursday with another celebration! Students who earned 50 PBIS points during the first quarter and had no major behavior referrals were rewarded with extra recess!
To make it even more special, Kenyon athletes joined our students on the playground for some fun. I'm honestly not sure who enjoyed it moreβthe students or the athletes! It was the perfect way to wrap up our first quarter and celebrate the positive choices our Wiggin Street Kids are making each day.
π Fall Family Fun Night β Tuesday!
Don't forget that our Fall Family Fun Night is this Tuesday on the Wiggin Street front lawn!
Bring a pumpkin, and we will provide all the decorating supplies! This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time together as a school community while enjoying some fall fun.
We will also have two food trucks available:
Buddy's Local Eats β Dinner
Sprinkle Me Krazy β Sweet treats and desserts
Menus can be found below. We hope to see you there!
πΈ Fall Picture Day β Thursday, October 22
A reminder that Fall Picture Day is Thursday! Both individual student pictures and class pictures will be taken, so come ready to smile!
As we wrap up the first quarter, I want to thank our families, staff, PTO, and Kenyon College partners for helping make Wiggin Street such a special place for our students. We truly are Better Together!
Have a wonderful fall weekend!
Sincerely,
Christy Grandstaff

Yearbook Contest Winners
Congratulations to this year's Yearbook Contest winners: Alaina's artwork was selected for the front cover design and Stella's artwork was selected for the back cover design. These girls have a lot to be proud of and have grown so much as artists in their time here at Wiggin Street!
Lost and Found
Fall has arrived, and so have the sweatshirts in our Lost and Found! π
With cool mornings and warm afternoons, students often take off their sweatshirts while playing outside and forget to bring them back inside. Our Lost and Found is starting to fill up!
Please remind your child to check for any missing items and bring them home. Labeling sweatshirts and jackets with your child's name is also a great way to help us return lost items.
Thank you for your help!

The board will pay for any parent's background check done through the MVCSD district office to go on field trips or to volunteer at the school. The BCI background check will need to be done every 3 years and needs to be on file in our office. If any parent needs a background check, please go to the district office with your driver's license. Thank you.
