Loveland Tiger Families,

As we begin November, I want to highlight Veterans Day on November 11. At all our buildings, we will show our appreciation for veterans and talk with our students about the importance of their service and sacrifice. Look for more information from your student’s school.

Honoring those who have served our country is part of our DNA here in Loveland. We have been recognized as both a Purple Heart school district and have earned Ohio Purple Star recognition as well. Earlier this school year, we unveiled a new display board at Loveland High School to recognize Loveland grads who have served in the military. We’ve gathered names and photos over the years for the “Tigers That Served” display, but this year we want to make a big effort to ensure we are not missing anyone.

You can check the list of names on our display by following this link. If you are a Loveland grad who is a military veteran and your name is not on the list, please follow this link to fill out a short Google form so you can be added. We are also reaching out to local military service organizations like the VFW and American Legion to ask for their help in this effort.

Thank you to all who have served!

Reminder: Tuesday is Election Day and also a Remote Learning Day for all students.

If you ever have questions, let me know: mikebroadwater@lovelandschools.org.

Go Tigers!

Celebrating 25 Years of the Pass It On Food Drive! Celebrating 25 Years of the Pass It On Food Drive!

Loveland City School District will once again be supporting the Pass It On Food Drive for LIFE Food Pantry. This yearly event collects canned goods and other nonperishable food items from classrooms across the district to build holiday food boxes for families in need. The Pass It On Food Drive began as an act of kindness after September 11, 2001, and has grown into an important staple of LIFE Food Pantry’s ability to serve local families. Look for information from your student’s building about how you can support the Pass It On Food Drive during November as we celebrate the 25th anniversary! “If you’re feeling fortunate, pass it on!”

This marks the first time in district history that LCSD has received this honor, placing us among just 61 public school districts in Ohio to earn it for FY25. Congratulations to Treasurer John Espy and his entire team on this accomplishment and their continued commitment to fiscal responsibility!

Attendance Changes for 2026-27

Attendance is important. Any time your child misses school, they miss out on the opportunity to learn. When they are absent, they can fall behind. The State of Ohio has changed the law regarding school attendance. With the change, if students miss too much classroom time - for any reason - they can be labeled “Chronically Absent.”

What To Expect:

  • If your student misses 3.5% of classroom time, which might be just a few days of school, you will receive a letter in the mail reminding you how important it is for them to attend school.

  • If your student misses 5% of classroom time, or about 60 hours of school, you may need to come in for a meeting while we develop an Absence Intervention Plan.

  • If the missed instructional time reaches 10%, truancy charges could be filed against your student. Their parents or guardians could also face charges for failing to send them to school.

What To Do:

It’s important to get your student to school every day. Keep your child home when they are sick, but let us know why they’re absent and when they might return. Plan vacations and other trips during school breaks - not during school time. Our calendars are available on our website at this link, so you can make plans.

If your child is dealing with a chronic illness or other ongoing issue, call or email their principal so we can account for absences and support their learning. And if you are facing other challenges getting your child to school, let us know so that we can work with you to find solutions.

We know that not every student will have perfect attendance, but being in school as much as possible is the best way for students to learn, and learning leads to lifelong success.
