Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). When students have the opportunity to choose their own books, it empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers. We are excited to host the Scholastic Book Fair! March

3 - 7 Read Across America Week

7 - Spring Picture Day

17 - 21 Spring Break

24 - Staff Development (Student Holiday)

Each year, Read Across America is celebrated the week closest to March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The annual event is part of an initiative on reading created by the National Education Association. The event is designed to encourage reading in children.

Please label all of your child's belongings (backpacks, jackets, water bottles, lunchboxes, and anything else) they bring to school! This helps us keep things organized and ensures that lost items find their way back home.

After thoughtful consideration and discussion, Melissa ISD has updated its policy regarding parent notes for student absences. Effective immediately, families may now submit up to five (5) parent notes per school year to excuse absences, an increase from the previous limit of three (3) per school year. The Melissa ISD academic calendar for the 2025-2026 school year, as recommended by the District Site-Based Decision Committee, has been approved by the Board of Trustees. To access the school calendar, visit www.melissaisd.org/calendar.
