WRAPPING UP THE MONTH OF OCTOBER

Winthrop Families and Caretakers,

As we close out the month of October, we want to extend a huge thank you to everyone for an amazing month of learning and positive activity across the Winthrop School Community! Your support makes all the difference.

Winthrop Pumpkin Smash Friday 10/31/25

Tomorrow brings one of our favorite annual traditions: the Pumpkin Smash! Students will head outside to watch the pumpkins take a spectacular fall off the Winthrop School Roof. After the smash, we'll gather the seeds for some exciting, hands-on Math activities back in the classroom—a perfect blend of physics, fun, and academics.

November: Kindness Takes Center Stage!

Get ready for a month focused on character, empathy, and community as we celebrate World Kindness Day on Monday, November 13th!

Catching Students Being Kind!

This won't just be a day; it will be a school-wide focus! Along with our assembly, we're planning several ways to reinforce this important lesson:

  • Kindness Chains: Students will be working on creating kindness chains around the school to visually demonstrate the power of positive actions.

  • Recognizing Good Deeds: We'll be actively "catching students being kind!" Students who demonstrate kindness throughout the community will be recognized and celebrated for their efforts.

  • Students will have the opportunity to wear the color of the kindness chain that is assigned to their grade level. Teachers will reach out to remind students about their color to wear on November 13th if they would like to participate.

  • Creative Expressions: Every grade level will be creating and sharing songs ,books, poems, skits, and other creative pieces about kindness. This is a wonderful way for our students to internalize the message and share it with their peers.

Important: End of Term One & Conferences

As we head into November, we will also be approaching the end of Term One. You will soon be hearing directly from your child's teacher about signing up for a Parent-Teacher Conference.

This is a great opportunity to discuss your child's progress and goals. Please contact your child's teacher with any questions regarding scheduling or your student's progress.

Thank You,

Winthrop Administration Team
