Morrow's Message
Hi East Families 💛
I can’t believe February is already in the rearview mirror! March always feels like a turning point — parent-teacher conferences, spring break on the horizon, and maybe (just maybe!) a few hints of warmer weather here in Kodiak. Fingers crossed.
One of my favorite parts of this time of year is conferences. There’s something really special about sitting down together and talking about our amazing Cubs — their growth, their goals, and all the ways they’re learning and leading.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for:
Monday, March 9
Tuesday, March 10
Conference times will be:
2:15–4:15 – Conferences
4:15–5:00 – Dinner break (school doors will be locked during this time)
5:00–7:25 – Conferences
With conferences this week, all students will have early release Monday through Wednesday. Please plan accordingly for dismissal and after-school arrangements.
Your child’s teacher will be reaching out by Monday afternoon, March 2, with specific details about what conferences will look like in their classroom, along with any sign-up information you may need.
Our K–3 teams value flexibility, and you’ll see that reflected in the different formats teachers may use. Some classrooms may offer individually scheduled conferences, some may use a student-led format with sign-up times, and some may offer an open-house style.
If your child’s teacher is hosting an open-house format but you would prefer a one-on-one meeting, simply reach out — we are more than happy to make that happen. Our goal is for every family to feel welcomed, informed, and supported in a way that works best for you.
We are truly looking forward to connecting with you and celebrating the incredible growth we’re seeing across East. Thank you for being such important partners in your child’s learning journey.

Mr. Allen's 2nd grade worked with mixed media to create some soft wintry landscapes.
Students practiced patience and trusting the process
by letting many layers of paint dry between each step.
For the final touch, they used a white wash and brushes
to spray and drip paint to create a snowy affect.
Amazing!
