Happy Sunday, Pirates!

It was a great week at Swansboro High School, filled with active learning in our classrooms, field trips, performances, inductions, and athletic victories. We enjoyed our fall orchestra concert on Tuesday night, and the National Honor Society inducted its newest members on Thursday night. Congratulations to our band on its incredible performance at the Havelock competition on Saturday! The band earned the grand championship, along with awards for best guard, best music, best visual, best general effect, and best drum major of the day.

Congratulations to our JV and varsity football teams on their victories over Richlands. Swansboro Boys Cross Country made history by becoming the first team to win back-to-back regional championships. Jasiah Mason claimed 1st overall, while Michael Justice finished as regional runner-up. The girls team earned an impressive 2nd-place finish. Jasiah Mason, Michael Justice, and Emma Sanders were named All-Regional honorees. This week in athletics, soccer will host the first round of playoffs on Monday at 6 p.m. and football will host the first round of playoffs on Friday night. Cross county will compete in the state championship on Saturday morning.

Make-up school photos are on Monday. This is the last chance for seniors who missed summer photos to have their pictures taken for the yearbook. Wednesday is an early-release day for professional development and the National English Honor Society induction, and students who signed up will also take the ASVAB. On Saturday, we will host our Project Graduation Holiday Craft Fair in the main building from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a great opportunity to start your holiday shopping early and support our senior class trip.

Next Saturday, the annual Century Club Trout Tournament and Clam Chowder Cook-off will be held at Casper’s Marina. The Swansboro High School Century Club is also seeking board members. The board supports athletic programs at both Swansboro Middle School and Swansboro High School. If you are interested in serving our community in this capacity, please contact the school office.
