It has been an amazing first week at Legal Public School! We are so grateful to have all of our students back in the building, filling our classrooms and hallways with energy, laughter, and learning. Over the past week, we’ve watched new friendships form, old ones reconnect, and students dive into the excitement of a fresh school year.

The joy and enthusiasm your children bring each day is truly infectious; it reminds us why we love what we do. Our staff has been inspired by the way students are already supporting one another, showing curiosity, and building a sense of community.

We know this year will hold many moments of growth, discovery, and celebration, and we are excited to share in those experiences with you. Together, as families and school staff, we can help your children thrive, not only academically but also socially and emotionally.

We can’t wait to see all the amazing things your kids will accomplish this year, and we’re honoured to be a part of their journey.

With gratitude,

Louise Loh, Principal

Angela Davis, Vice Principal

Project-Based Learning: Project-Based Learning:

Each afternoon, students dive into hands-on, creative projects through Project-Based Learning (PBL), where they apply literacy, numeracy, and essential skills in real-world contexts. These projects are directly aligned with the Alberta Curriculum and make learning practical, engaging, and meaningful.

Highlights include:

  • Financial Literacy: Students earn and manage mock currency, learning money management and decision-making through a classroom reward system.

  • STEAM Projects: Students tackle challenges that blend science, technology, engineering, arts, and math—building models and solving problems creatively.

  • Land-Based & Indigenous Learning: Students explore Indigenous knowledge, environmental stewardship, and cultural teachings through experiential learning.

  • Music Focus Fridays: Students build musical skills and confidence through performance-based learning tied to Alberta’s Fine Arts curriculum.

Through PBL, students not only deepen their understanding of curriculum content but also develop creativity, critical thinking, and practical skills for the real world.

Nutrition Program - Begins September 8th

Legal Public School is proud to offer a nutrition program on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, made possible through the support of Landing Trail School and their PIA for the 2025/2026 school year.

Through this program, every student has the option to enjoy one healthy snack each day. Snacks follow the Canada Food Guide and typically include fresh fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.

Participation is optional—students may choose whether or not to take a snack each day. While we make every effort to accommodate allergies, please note that we cannot guarantee allergen-free options.

Together, we’re helping our LPS Leaders fuel their learning with healthy choices!

We’re continuing to gather feedback as we explore the idea of offering an after-school program for our students. Thank you to those who have already shared their thoughts — your input is incredibly valuable.

If you haven’t had a chance yet, we would love to hear from you. Your feedback will help us gauge interest, learn what activities would be most meaningful for families, and guide us in shaping a program that supports both our students and school community.

Please take a few minutes to complete our short survey. Every response helps us make more informed decisions about this exciting possibility.

School Council

Parents play a vital role at Legal Public School, and we’re hoping for a strong turnout in our School Council this year!

The council meets once a month to discuss school programming, upcoming events, and ways to strengthen community engagement. It’s a great way to stay informed, share your voice, and support our school community.

We welcome all interested parents to join! If you have any questions or would like more information, feel free to reach out to our current council president, Sarah (Email to be shared at later date).

We look forward to working together to make this a great year!
