Safety First Safety First

Safety Procedures

The high school will be holding building safety drills within the next two weeks. To ensure the safety of our students and staff, it is imperative that these safety drills are practiced so that everyone knows their role. The staff will make sure the students are familiar with procedures and will prepare the students leading up to the drills. The safety of your children is a charge we take very seriously and it is imperative we practice these drills.

Whether a student is staying after school for a sport, an activity, or a club, adult supervision is required. Students should not be staying after school unsupervised. We have talked to all coaches and sponsors to let them know that an adult from their team needs to be here when school lets out to let the students into the appropriate spaces. This includes the locker rooms. All coaches have access to open the locker rooms and should make sure the students have supervision. Students will likely make better choices if they know an adult is right outside the locker rooms. We understand this took some time to get used to as we worked out the kinks. Thank you for your flexibility as we make sure all students are supervised at all times.

Grading at the High School Grading at the High School

From the Methacton School District Curriculum Office

Methacton’s grading and assessment practices are intended to provide families with an accurate picture of a student’s learning and progress toward curriculum standards. Grades reflect both summative assignments, such as tests, projects, writing, and lab reports, which account for 80% of the grade, and formative assignments, such as classwork and homework, which account for the remaining 20%. Teachers update their gradebooks regularly so families can monitor progress and students can receive timely support when needed. Families should refer to course-specific information provided by their student’s teacher for additional details about assignments, expectations, and grading practices.
