The countdown to the first day is on! We're very excited to welcome students back into the building next week. Teachers returned on Tuesday and have been busy this week preparing their classrooms and attending professional development sessions. Monticello Road is back open, for now, and we can't wait to see everyone at Back to School Night on the 12th.

We know everyone is anxiously awaiting the release of course schedules! We have been informed they will be available through student/parent Skyward accounts on Monday afternoon. Please remember to update your website bookmarks with the new Skyward Q. The old Skyward links will not contain any updated student information.

Request forms for course changes will be available for your student to pick up Thursday after school and will be due the following Monday.

Join us Tuesday, August 12th for Back-to-School Night at MTMS! Students can walk their schedule, practice their locker, meet teachers and catch up with friends. To reduce congestion and traffic, last names A-L are invited to come from 5:00-5:40 and last names M-Z please join us from 5:50-6:30p.m.

Many of you have noticed that student fees have yet to be posted to parent accounts. This is for various reasons due to the migration to the new Skyward Q system. We anticipate fees being posted in mid to late August, once students schedules are set. Thank you to everyone who has inquired and we will keep you informed!

In order to get our students their IDs as quick as possible, the first day of school is Picture Day! Wednesday, August 13, 2025 (6th grade) & Thursday, August 14, 2025 (7th & 8th grade).

The temporary closure to Monticello Road was completed this week and the road is back open. A reminder that in mid to late September, the road will be closed for approximately four (4) weeks to allow for permanent repairs. We will keep you updated as the City of Shawnee provides more information as to how this will impact traffic flow at MT, Clear Creek, and Mill Valley.

25-26 School Supplies Lists

A reminder that it is district policy that all adults requesting entry into the building are required to present their ID to the door camera before being granted entry to the building. Thank you for having your ID ready when you ring the bell!

To ensure the safety of our students, please report all full-day absences (illness, etc.) and late arrivals due to morning appointments by 8:30 a.m. You may call the school attendance line at 913-422-5854 or use the online absence reporting form. The school will call to follow-up with unreported absences after 8:30. Students arriving tardy after 7:55 must enter through the front office doors (you are not required to escort late students inside, but if your student is late due to an appointment, please report it to the office so their attendance is appropriately marked or make sure they bring in an appointment note when they arrive).

Students are allowed ten (10) days of excused absences per school year without an accompanying doctor’s note. (This includes illness and “parent request” absences, which should be coordinated with the school in advance). Absences in excess of ten (10) without accompanying documentation will be considered unexcused. Missing a substantial portion of a day (three (3) or more class periods) shall be considered one "day."

You are not required to notify the office in advance if you will be checking a student out during the school day for an appointment. Please have your ID ready at the door, state your student's name and indicate you are checking them out, and complete the student check out inside and we will call your student from class at that time. Students will only be released to parent/guardians or emergency contacts listed in Skyward unless coordinated in advance with the school.

KSHSAA Physicals for fall sports are due ASAP and must be turned in prior to the start of practices. Please ensure you complete all signatures and submit all required pages. The ability to complete the Student Athlete Registration through the student's Skyward accounts may be delayed due to the transition to the new Skyward Q software. We will update you with more information as it becomes available.

Football, Cross Country, and Volleyball will kick off with the start of school! Please check out our Fall Athletics pages for important information and practice/game calendars. Any further questions should be directed to the appropriate coaching staff. Go Wolves!

Immunization Requirements

Attention parents of incoming 7th grade students! The Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) and the Meningococcal vaccine dose 1 are required for 7th grade students. Proof of required vaccinations are required by October.
