September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which is a cause that is near and dear to the hearts of many of us at Murchison. Gold is the ribbon color for childhood cancer awareness so please join us in wearing gold on Friday, September 19!
Our first Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) meeting is on Tuesday, September 9 at 6:30 pm. Just by being a Murchison parent or guardian, you are a member of the PTO! Our first meeting will be on Google Meet so feel free to join us at: https://meet.google.com/dgi-qroi-yuq
Murchison Elementary will be hosting GirlStart again this Spring. Girlstart After School provides 4th & 5th-grade girls with a fun, free, weekly STEM enrichment program in the fall and spring semesters that builds confidence and encourages them to pursue paths to higher education and discover more significant career opportunities. Additionally, Girlstart After School seeks to enhance and supplement girls’ classroom science learning through engaging activities that introduce important STEM concepts in a hands-on and informal environment. As a standards-aligned STEM program, Girlstart After School supports the science and math learning recovery for our participants. Girlstart’s STEM CREW program leaders serve as role models and empower their program members to be “brave, creative, and curious.”
The first Girlstart club will be on September 11th and will take place weekly on Thursdays from 3:00-4:15 p.m in room 402. Students can sign up by completing the registration/permission form found here: Registration Form (English) or Registration Form (Spanish). The deadline to apply is Monday, September 9th as we can only accommodate 20 participants. This program will run from September 11 to October 9, 2025. Participation in Girlstart will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis. Please ensure that weekly participation will be consistent before registering your child.

Destination Imagination at Murchison Elementary!
We’re excited to share that Destination Imagination (DI) is back at Murchison! DI is a creative, team-based program where students work together to solve challenges that build problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. If you have any questions, please reach out to jerissa.krasnonosenkikh@pfisd.net

On Wednesdays the staff at Murchison wear college shirts to promote college and career readiness. Feel free to allow your child to join us in wearing a shirt on Wednesday that represents their favorite university!
Save the Date! Grandparents' Day at Murchison is September 22. Grandparents are invited to come each lunch with their grandchild, then shop the Book Fair.
Students who do not have a grandparent come will get to enjoy a fun lunch in their classroom with their teacher.
