PARENTAL CONSENT FOR HEALTH CARE SERVICES 2024-2025

A new Florida State Statute (Section 1014.06, Florida Statutes: Parental Consent for Health Care Services) has been released requiring parental consent for Health Services given to your child attending any Orange County Public School. Health Services include a range of items including but not limited to Basic First Aid (band-aids and ice), Hearing/Vison Screenings, and certain therapies. As a Charter School within OCPS, we fall within this requirement.

Please access your Skyward Parent Access and complete the 2024 PCF form for each child attending Orlando Science Charter as soon as possible. At this time any unsubmitted form defaults all answers to NO and Orlando Science is not able to provide students any of the listed Health Services.

Water Safety and Swimming Certification for K-12 Students Water Safety and Swimming Certification for K-12 Students

Swimming is a lot of fun, but drowning is a real danger. Even kids who know how to swim can drown. Water safety education courses and swimming lessons can save lives.

See the link below for resources and information on water safety education courses and swimming lessons in your neighborhood.

Water Safety and Swimming Locations Near You!

Please click for the "Every Child a Swimmer" website which offers low to no cost scholarships for qualified children. (This list contains learn-to-swim providers in the local area. This list does not constitute an OSES endorsement for any of the providers listed; the list is merely an informational resource for parents/legal guardians.)

According to Section 1003.225, Florida Statutes; beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, each public school shall provide, to a parent who initially enrolls his or her child in the school, information on the important role water safety education courses and swimming lessons play in saving lives. The information must be provided electronically or in hard copy and must include local options for age-appropriate water safety courses and swimming lessons that result in a certificate indicating successful completion, including courses and lessons offered for free or at a reduced price. If the student is 18 years of age or older, or is under the age of 21 and is enrolling in adult education classes, the information must be provided to the student.

Participation in Water Safety and Swim education courses is not required. The Swim Safety information provided is being disseminated in compliance with Florida Statutes.
