Mac El and Pipe Creek - April 24, 2026
From the Principal
It’s been a busy and exciting week! Our 3rd–5th grade students showed great perseverance as they worked hard on their ILEARN assessments—something to be proud of. Our second graders enjoyed a hands-on learning experience at the Indianapolis Fairgrounds, where they explored the journey from growing ingredients to making pizza!
As we head into the final stretch of the school year, it’s important to keep the momentum going. While students may be counting down the days, there is still so much meaningful learning ahead as we prepare for final benchmarks and continue building essential skills.
This time of year can also bring an increase in behaviors, so we appreciate your partnership in reinforcing expectations at home. Students are expected to continue using kind words and demonstrating respect, responsibility, and safety each day. Please encourage your child to finish the year strong by making positive choices—we’re almost there!

ILEARN Testing
4th & 5th grade students
Students in grades 4 and 5 will take the ILEARN Science & Computer Science (4th) & Social Studies (5th) Assessment, an important measure of their progress toward grade-level standards. Please review the testing dates carefully and make sure your child is present and on time each day. During this busy time of year, with many distractions outside of school, encourage your child to get plenty of rest and come prepared to do their best on the ILEARN Assessment.
NOTE: Students will not be permitted to enter or leave the classroom once testing has started for that session. Please plan appointments accordingly. Thank you!
Parent Request Letters
If you would like to submit a request for your child for the next school year, please complete the following:
- Write a letter/email to Mrs. Tidd (tidds@maconaquah.k12.in.us) including your child's name, grade, and reason for a request.
- Do NOT include a specific teacher as letters requesting specific teachers will not be accepted.
- Do describe the needs of your child and the best learning environment for them to be successful.
Letters must be received by May 8th. Classroom placement will be available when fall registration for the 2025-26 school year is completed.
IREAD Testing
Summer School Letters
Third and Fourth grade students will have an opportunity to test in May. If they pass the IREAD, they will not need to attend summer school. Second grade students will have an opportunity to test after sumer school.

Mac El & Pipe Creek Yearbooks on Sale
If you are still interested in purchasing a yearbook for your student in either elementary school, the cost is $25. It is on a first come, first serve basis, as there is a limited supply of extra yearbooks.
IMPORTANT - Changes in Transportation
Contact Front Office at your child's building
If there is a change in your child's transportation, whether they will be picked up or riding a bus, it MUST be communicated with the front office. This can be done by sending a note to school or calling the office. If you call the office, please make sure you speak with a person. There is a central list at each elementary school, which allows us to check when students are unsure and the teacher may not be available. Do not just send a message to the teacher. The office MUST be notified. Thank you!
NOTE: Transportation changes should be in to the office by 2:00 pm.
Background Checks & Photo IDs
We love having you visit our schools! To ensure the safety of all our students, anyone who wishes to volunteer or have lunch with their student must first complete a volunteer background check. You can find the link under the Parent Resources tab on our website.
A friendly reminder: for the safety of our students, please remember to bring your photo ID whenever you visit the school for any reason, including student pickup, lunch, or meetings.

Braves of the Week
Kindergarten: Ian Hernandez
Ian is our Brave of the Week! He has been working so hard at school every single day and has shown great progress this year in kindergarten. Even when things feel tricky, Ian keeps trying and doesn’t give up. Ian shows us that if we persevere when things get challenging, we can do amazing things. We are so proud of you, Ian!
1st Grade: Ivann Haymaker
Ivann is a true blessing to have in class! Ivann is responsible, respectful, caring, and just pure joy. He works hard academically and makes us so proud of him. He sets the best example for his teammates in our room. He is always attentive and diligent. He brings a smile to our faces daily with his great attitude. Ivann is a BRAVE that goes above and beyond, and we couldn’t be more proud to have him in our class! Way to go, Ivann!
2nd Grade: Emersyn Reed
Emersyn Reed is a student who leads by example. She works hard on all of her assignments and has shown tremendous growth in her skills this year. She is a caring, generous, and helpful friend. She often takes the initiative to help others or complete classroom tasks without being prompted. Emersyn helps to make our classroom and school a great place to be!
3rd Grade: Jeffery Copp
Jeffery is doing an amazing job being a Brave! He has been super focused on getting his work done, joining in on our class activities, following the rules, and being a really kind, caring friend. I am so proud of Jeffery and all of the wonderful things he has been accomplishing!
4th Grade: Alivia Ward
Alivia was picked as the Brave of the Week because she always tries her best and has a great attitude. She listens carefully, works hard, and is not afraid to share her ideas. Alivia is also a kind friend who helps her classmates and makes everyone feel included. She sets a wonderful example and makes our classroom a happy place to learn!
5th Grade: Paige Kimble
It has been so awesome to see how Paige has grown over the past four years. In second grade, she barely said a word in the library, and now in fifth grade, she is sharing her thoughts on stories, participating in discussions, and has really blossomed in her reading and choice of books. Today, she wrote a beautiful and thoughtful poem for our Poet Tree. Keep up the great work, Paige. I am so proud of you!
