Read-a-thon and reading fun!

Next week, our school will be celebrating Read Across America Week, a special time dedicated to inspiring a love of reading and highlighting the joy books bring to our students. Throughout the week, classrooms will welcome special guest readers, adding excitement and giving students the chance to hear stories read by familiar faces from around our school community. We’re also thrilled to kick off our annual Read‑A‑Thon with a fun and energizing schoolwide assembly, “The Masked Reader,” where students will try to guess the identities of mystery staff members based on their beloved books. With themed activities, shared stories, and plenty of opportunities to dive into great books, it’s sure to be an engaging and memorable week of literacy celebrations! (Read-A-Thon registration coming home soon)

Throughout the week, students can take part in a Scavenger Storybook Character Hunt, searching for hidden book characters around the building to promote exploration, engagement, and literacy fun. The class that finds the character for the day will get a special reading themed prize! Each grade will have their own character to search for.

Check back NEXT MONDAY for the launch for Reading BINGO! and more!

PTO Weekly Update PTO Weekly Update

King’s Highway PTO is hard at work preparing for our annual BINGO Fundraiser on March 27th! As a reminder, this is our largest fundraiser of the year, and all proceeds will go toward building a new playground for our school.

It truly takes a village to make this event a success, and we could really use your support. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with:

  1. Business Outreach (from home!) – Make a few calls or send emails to local businesses requesting donations for our raffle baskets. This requires minimal time and can be done on your own schedule.

  2. Donation Pick-Up – Help collect donated items from local businesses. We’ll provide the list and details - an easy way to contribute that can fit into even the busiest schedules.

  3. Day-of Event Support – We need additional volunteers to help sell tickets and snacks, organize gift baskets, and assist with event logistics. Right now, we only have a small number of volunteers signed up, and we need more hands to make the night run smoothly.

Please remember that every PTO member is also a parent volunteer, generously giving their time to support our school community. We truly need additional volunteers to make this event a success – please consider stepping up to help.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please email the PTO at khspto841@gmail.com. Thank you for supporting our students and helping us build a playground they will enjoy for years to come!
