Hello Cougar Cubs Family!

Welcome back to another wonderful week. As a reminder, school will dismiss at 12:00pm today, Monday, Sept. 21st. We have had two wonderful weeks of making connections with friends and with our learning. We have been learning about our body systems, ancient civilizations, classic tales, rhymes and fables and so much more!

Our students have earned enough tokens through being responsible and showing respect for themselves and each other. This gave us the opportunity to celebrate our first 100's board party with Root Beer floats. We are so proud of our students and their desire to "Aspire Higher, and Soar to Success".

Also, please add our school carnival to your calendar on Monday, Sept. 28th from 5-7:00. This is sponsored by our terrific PTA. It will be a great event!

Have a wonderful week,

Principal Caldwell

¡Hola, familia de Cougar Cubs!

Bienvenidos a otra semana maravillosa.

Directora Caldwell

Weekly Vocabulary Words Weekly Vocabulary Words

To understand what you have read, you need to know the meaning of the words you are reading. Research tells us that vocabulary knowledge, including both oral and written vocabulary, is critically important for a child’s success in school (Kamil et al., 2008).

Each week we introduce a new vocabulary word. Students are rewarded when they use the new words in complete sentences daily to encourage deeper comprehension. We also invite you to support their learning by using the words in complete sentences at home.

Our vocaublary words for the next two weeks are DISCOURAGED and ECSTATIC

What is the meaning of Discouraged?

Discouraged: Feeling like you want to give up because something is difficult or didn’t go the way you hoped.

What is the meaning of Ecstatic: Ecstatic:To feel extremely happy or excited.

How You Can Support at Home

You can help reinforce this valuable trait at home by:

  • Encouraging your child to try new things and praising their efforts.
  • Sharing stories from your own life about times you were Discouraged or Ecstatic.
  • Using the word the vocabulary words in daily conversations to help your child understand and internalize its meaning.

Extasiado: Sentirse extremadamente feliz o emocionado.

Cómo Puede Apoyar en Casa

Usted puede ayudar a reforzar esta valiosa cualidad en casa:

  • Animando a su hijo/a a probar cosas nuevas y elogiando sus esfuerzos.
  • Compartiendo historias de su propia vida sobre momentos en que estuvo Desanimado o Extasiado.
  • Usando las palabras de vocabulario en conversaciones diarias para ayudar a su hijo/a a comprender e interiorizar su significado.
