K-8 Campus Updates

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Grizzly Mothers!

Big Shout Out and Special Thanks to Ms. Jones for organizing activities for Teacher Appreciation as well as to all of our parent volunteers. Thank you for your participation in Teacher Appreciation Week! You all showed up and showed out! Thank you for sending in gifts, notes, treats, flowers and all kinds of goodies to Our amazing and well-deserving Staff, Teachers and Administrators! Words can’t express our gratitude. Thank You, Thank You Thank You!

We are also still seeking your assistance with a couple of things as we bring the year to a close.

Dress Code: Please take a final glance at your student(s) before leaving the house to ensure they are dressed according to CGS dress code standards. As the weather is warming up, we are seeing more shorts and tops made for warm weather. While these clothing items are permissible, they should meet the dress code standards. The guidelines can be found in the Parent Student Handbook. Your assistance is appreciated. Thank you!

After School Pick-up: Please remember the school day ends at 2:45. Students should be picked up by 3:05. Supervision for children cannot be guaranteed since teachers are released from supervisory duties to fulfill other responsibilities and obligations. Students remaining beyond 3:05 will be sent to our After school program and a fee for supervision may be incurred. If however, an issue arises, please contact the front office.

Student Behavior: Please remind your Grizzly to come to school ready to do and show his/her BEST at all times. We know it’s an exciting time and the end of year is near, but it's not over yet! We still need focused attention & honorable behavior until the last day.

Finally, End of Grade testing begins this week. Please be mindful of the testing schedule and grade level participations. Please take time to encourage your Grizzly not to stress but do & show his or her BEST, ensure adequate rest and meals/snacks during this time.

Your support in advance is greatly appreciated.

As a reminder- NO BLANKETS are allowed at school. If students are cold, they need to bring an appropriate hoodie or jacket.

Thank you and rest well.

Thank you,

Mrs. Spencer

K-8 Principal

High School Campus Updates

Hello Grizzly Families!

Last week, we started Advanced Placement (AP) exams and will continue this week, adding teacher-made exams. Students will eat lunch in their second session class beginning on Wednesday. Please ensure your students are well-rested and on time daily. This is our last week of pick up by 3:20. Beginning 5/19, we will dismiss at noon on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and bus transportation will not be provided. We will dismiss on 5/21 at 1:30 and 5/23 at noon with transportation provided.

*The last week of school is an early release schedule. Students who do not have an End of Course test will work with teachers on a review of concepts. To ensure our students have ample time to review, we will have (3) 75-minute periods on 5/19, 5/20, and 5/22. Those not testing will be working on concept reviews. Attendance will be taken, and students will be marked with an unexcused absence if they do not attend (please refer to the attendance policy on page 7 in the Student/Parent Handbook).

*On Wednesday, May 21st we will celebrate our seniors. Seniors will begin their day with Senior Breakfast at 7am in the courtyard, then depart for the Senior pep rally by 8:15. Seniors are allowed to drive to the K8 campus after Senior Breakfast. 9th-11th graders will ride buses to the K8 for the Senior Pep Rally. High School Student Advising Information and Opportunities:

Attention CCP Students

As mentioned previously, revisions to the CCP Guidelines will be forthcoming upon completion of scheduling at ACC. Scheduling challenges at ACC is opening opportunities for students to take online 8-week courses if an in-person/hybrid option is not available. Students are required to take in-person/hybrid classes on ACC's campus when the courses are available and work with their CGS schedule. We continue to work with students on an individual basis. In the event that in-person/hybrid courses are not available and students are placed in an online course at ACC, the student needs to communicate with a member of the advising team (Mrs. Walther, Mrs. Gladden, or Dr. Morris).

Early Release Schedule- High School Students- EOC Exams- May 2025

Please take a look at the Early Release Schedule attached as it pertains to our high school students ONLY taking EOC exams.

**Reminder: Please note change that 5/21 is a dismissal of 1:30 P.M. for our High School Students

Please reach out to Mrs. Ginter, our district testing coordinator with any questions at tonyaginter@cgsnc.org.

Thank you!
