Message from Nicole Pease, Principal
Good afternoon DCS families, what a difference a week makes! Last Friday I made it to Crotched Mountain for the free ski time, and it was raining and a sheet of ice! This Friday, we went to Dublin School to ski on their trails and it was sunny and 40 degrees! Not surprisingly, given the weird weather we have had, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow so we will have an early spring. Personally, I love winter so I will be sad for it to end. We the most of today and had an absolutely wonderful time at the Dublin School's noridc ski center! Your students did an amazing job skiing on two skis! Not only that, they were so polite and thankful to the adults that helped us get the skis on. We will be starting to use the skis at recess as long as there is snow to ski on. Have a relaxing weekend!
Nicole
Health/Wellness
Students learned about the food groups, My Plate, and the importance of choosing healthy foods. We talked about the effect of healthy foods on the body and how it provides energy (especially when being active), vitamins and nutrients. Students also learned that certain foods help build strong teeth, bones, and muscles. Students were able to identify healthy and unhealthy foods and set goals to try to make healthy choices every day. In addition to learning about nutrition, we learned basic basketball skills, played a variety of basketball games, and had fun!
Thank you for encouraging healthy choices!
Mrs. Parker
Note from Robin Gregg School Counselor
In classroom lessons this week the kindergarten and first grade students are finishing the unit on kindness, reviewing kind things they can do at school and home, such as asking if someone is okay, asking if someone wants a hug, offering to share, offering to help. The students in Grades 2 through 5 are beginning a series of lessons on bullying prevention, focused on the “Three R’s”--Recognize, Report, Refuse
