A Message From Mrs. Lucas, BHS Principal
Hello Bobcats Families,
This Week at Battlefield: Exciting Updates & Important Reminders!
We’ve got a lot happening this week—here’s what you need to know:
✅ Personal Device Reminder
To keep our classrooms focused and distraction-free, students should store cell phones in their lockers at the start of the day and leave personal devices like laptops at home. Every student has a school-issued laptop—please make sure it comes to school daily! Thank you for helping us meet this state requirement and supporting a productive learning environment.
🎁 Toys for Tots Drive – Let’s Make a Difference!
Our Student Leadership classes, together with Patriot HS, are teaming up for a Toys for Tots drive! This friendly rivalry has a fun twist: the principal of the school that collects fewer donations will wear the other school’s colors at the January Boys Varsity Basketball game! Donations are accepted through Tuesday afternoon—let’s show our Bobcat pride and make the holidays brighter for children in need!
Great News!
All of our students have successfully joined Khan Academy, an incredible resource that offers personalized SAT practice in Reading, Writing, and Math. We’re excited to integrate Khan Academy during Flex and Advisory times for enrichment opportunities as needed. Please encourage students to take advantage of this tool at home as well! Consistent practice will help them sharpen their skills and feel confident as they prepare for the SAT. Let’s work together to empower our students to reach their full potential!
🎉 Welcome Our New Director of Student Activities!

Holiday Cookie & Coffee Day
Battlefield families — we’re thrilled to bring back one of last year’s most-loved traditions: Holiday Cookie & Coffee Day for our incredible teachers and staff!
It was such a hit that we knew we had to sprinkle a little extra holiday cheer and bring it back again this year!
To make this festive celebration a success, we need your help. We’re asking BHS families to support the event in one of two ways:
✨ Donate homemade or store-bought cookies
OR
✨ Contribute a small cash donation so we can purchase extra treats, coffee, and holiday goodies.
Every contribution — big or small — helps us shower our amazing teachers and staff with appreciation and seasonal cheer.
Thank you for helping us spread joy, warmth, and sweetness this holiday season.
Go Bobcats! 💜🎄🍪

Tutoring Opportunities
Varsity Tutoring
PWCS students have access to free online tutoring 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Students can access Varsity by logging in to PWCS Portal. To log in to PWCS Portal, students use their PWCS username and password. See this website for more information.
Khan Academy Free Access via the PWCS Portal for Students
All students in grades 9–12 now have access to Khan Academy through the PWCS Portal, powered by ClassLink. This learning platform offers personalized tools, instructional videos, and practice assessments designed to support academic success—especially in preparation for the PSAT and SAT.
Getting Started Is Easy:
Log in using your PWCS username and password (do not include “@pwcs-edu.org”).
Click the Khan Academy icon to launch the app and begin exploring resources.
Khan Academy is highly recommended for students preparing for standardized tests. Its content is aligned with College Board standards offering targeted practice to help students build confidence and improve performance. The most commonly used SAT preparation courses include:
SAT: Math
SAT: Reading and Writing
These courses are selected because they reflect the core sections of the SAT exam. Khan Academy’s SAT Math course covers algebra, problem-solving, data analysis, and advanced math topics. The Reading and Writing course focuses on grammar, vocabulary in context, and evidence-based reading comprehension, all essential skills for the SAT.
To access the SAT Prep courses, click on the “Courses” menu located at the top of the screen. Scroll down and select “Test Prep” from the list of available subjects. Under the Test Prep section, this where you’ll find the two main course options: “SAT Math” and “SAT Reading and Writing.” These courses are designed in partnership with the College Board and provide targeted practice aligned with the actual SAT exam format.
PWCS encourages all high school students to take advantage of this district provided resource to support their learning and college readiness.
