PTO Updates PTO Updates

Happy spring to our Jaworek community! We can't wait for our upcoming events and all of the programs and field trips that are planned. Below is a recap of the last month:

  • Thank you to Ms. Beck & Ms. Defazio for presenting about the Memorial Day program and Art Show during our March PTO meeting. Thank you to those community members who attended as well. Our next meeting will be May 15th at 7pm at Jaworek.
  • The board met on April 7 to review the budget and fundraising, go through teacher grants, plan for the block party, and discuss staff appreciation week. We also scored 12 applications we received for our annual $1,000 college scholarship that is awarded to a senior who attended Jaworek.
  • Board members met with Ms. Andrews' amazing fourth grade students who presented an impressive presentation on why the cafeteria should switch to reusable lunch trays and how this idea could get funded.
  • Field trips for each grade were scheduled and buses were funded by the PTO.
  • PTO donated $100 to Marlborough High School's Senior Night.
  • Eversource Energy visited all of our K-2 classrooms in March. The Watts-ville game was ELECTRIC ⚡️ teaching us all about energy saving! Every student got a board game so you can now play at home! Check out the video on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/JaworekPTO/
  • We had a very successful Family Literacy Night and community book fair! We loved seeing the books students were interested in, the amazing bookmarks that families made, local author Mrs. Lilian Roque reading her book to our students, and our wonderful staff who helped out and read to our students! We want to thank Goldfish Swim School - Marlborough for donating the amazing tote bags, complete with goodies! They are super helpful and our students loved them.
  • The PTO was honored at the Marlborough Cultural Council Award Reception on April 4th for the enrichment grant they received. More enrichment programming for the spring is underway, stay tuned!

Be sure to check out the info below and follow us on social media to stay up to date. As always, thank you for your support!

Art Show Art Show

The opening for this year's Jaworek All School Art Show will be held on Tuesday, June 4 during the PTO's Annual Block Party Event. Students and families will be able to walk through the school to view artwork by the students created throughout the school year. In order to make this show happen, I will need some volunteers to hang the 650+ student artworks in the designated areas for each class that go into the show. I will have detailed directions for volunteers to make the process as easy as possible. Any help you are willing or able to provide is greatly appreciated!

Sincerely, Ms. Beck, Art Teacher

Memorial Day Program Memorial Day Program

Our wonderful music teacher, Ms. Defazio, will be running the annual Memorial Day performance for veterans on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 9:30 am outside on the field (Inclement weather - Gymnasium). Families are invited to view the outside program on the field. If there is inclement weather, unfortunately, there is not enough room for families in the gymnasium, so only Veterans will be able to attend indoors. Let's hope for beautiful weather! She is in need of some volunteers the day before and day of as well as breakfast contributions (please see the link below).

  • At least one more assembly-style program will be planned for K-5 between April and June.
  • Thank you again to the Marlborough Cultural Council for awarding us a grant to use towards enrichment programming!
  • Grade K-5 staff are currently planning either a field trip or in-school program. PTO funds $1,000 per grade level to ensure that each grade can experience a trip or program!
