5 Weeks until EOGs
Welcome Dr. Sherri Damon, our new MUSIC teacher!
Only five weeks are remaining until End-of-Grade (EOG) assessments and we have another busy week in the Tiger Den. We are excited to welcome Dr. Sherri Damon (Dr. D as she likes to be called) as our new MUSIC teacher. Music will replace art and students will get to meet Dr. D. this week during their specials. Monday is the first day of iReady EOY Diagnostic Testing in grades 3-5. Students should bring their laptops AND chargers from home on Monday to ensure that they are ready for testing. On Wednesday afternoon, the dental team from the NC Health Department will be providing dental service to our 3rd-5th graders who signed up. Wednesday evening our new Beta Club 4th-grade candidates will be inducted during a special Induction ceremony at 5:30 pm. Friday is an Optional Staff Workday and NO school for students.
Students in grades 3-5 continue to review past NC Curriculum Standards and will be creating vocabulary flashcards and other helpful review materials based on specific curriculum items that they missed. Homemade flashcards, made on 3x5 or 5x7 index cards, are a great tool that families can help make and review with their children for any grade level using curriculum vocabulary and concepts. Families can also support learning by encouraging your child to read for at least 20 minutes each night.
I am thankful to the students, families, and staff who work collaboratively to help our students grow and succeed. It truly takes a village and Tigers will CLIMB together. Let's have an amazing week focusing on academics and PAWsitive behaviors.
