NEWS from the NEST
CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL September 2025
Thank you for joining us and making connections!
It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout from our Eagle community! Time is flying - October 9th will mark the end of our first nine weeks, and interims have been sent home (week of Sept. 11).
If you missed open house, we encourage families and students to use PowerSchool for real-time access to grades, homework, attendance, and assignments to stay connected and informed.
Both students and parents have their own accounts.
Students who need assistance should see Mrs. Nies in School Counseling.
Parents, click [here] to find step-by-step instructions for creating your account.

Academic Support for Your Student
📚 Afterschool Eagle Enrichment started on September 15th. This is our afterschool tutoring program for CHS students. It will be held in the media center from 4-5:30 pm on Mondays and Thursdays. No need to sign up! Students needing help should show up ready to work!
Structured NEST officially began last week.
📉 Students who currently have a grade below 69 in any class will be assigned to a specific NEST session for academic support. These assignments will be communicated to students during their bi-weekly MAST (homeroom) class. Students have two weeks to attend their assigned NEST sessions. Parents and guardians of students assigned to Structured NEST should have received an email on September 12 with more information.
📈 Students who have a grade of 70 or higher may choose where to spend their NEST time. However, they must report to an approved academic setting, such as:
A teacher’s classroom
The study hall room
The media center
Thank you for your continued support in helping all students succeed academically.
Students are you ready for the October 8th PSAT test?
If you'd like a little boost of help, stop by Mrs. Pratt's PSAT workshop (Room 236) on Monday, September 22nd from 3:50-5:00. We will start PROMPTLY at 3:50. While this workshop will emphasize the PSAT, SAT test takers are encouraged to come as the information will be helpful to you all as well. All are welcome!!

Updates from the Career Center
📢 Seniors, Are you interested in a career in Education?
The South Carolina (SC) Teaching Fellows program is a state-funded initiative that provides fellowships to high-achieving high school seniors interested in becoming teachers in South Carolina. The program offers financial scholarships, advanced educational experiences, and professional development opportunities in exchange for a commitment to teach in a South Carolina public school for a certain period after graduation. The goal is to recruit and develop future leaders in the state's teaching profession.
The first Zoom information session for the South Carolina Teaching Fellows 2025 application will be held on Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m. This session is open to all interested seniors and their parents. Students do not need to be enrolled in Teacher Cadets to apply.
Parents are strongly encouraged to attend alongside their students. Campus directors from Teaching Fellows institutions will also join the session to introduce their programs and answer questions.
📌 Please contact Mrs. Moseley for the Zoom link. No registration is required.
🗓️ October 8th - College Application Month (CAM) Event

With support from counselors and college reps, CAM gives students time, space, and guidance to explore post-secondary options, complete applications, and learn about scholarships. We will also have fee waivers for some colleges. We’ll have nine college representatives on campus to assist students with applications for any college. This drop-in event will take place in the back of the media center from 8:30 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.
