Growing Together: Monthly District Updates
Superintendent’s Spotlight
Hello Barrington Families,
As we close another remarkable school year, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to the entire school community for the partnership, dedication, and support that make our schools such special places for children to learn and grow.
This year has been filled with accomplishments worth celebrating. Our students demonstrated meaningful academic growth, reflecting their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to learning. These achievements are a direct result of the collective efforts of our exceptional educators, supportive families, dedicated staff members, and engaged community partners who work tirelessly to create opportunities for student success.
Our teachers continue to inspire me each day. Their unwavering commitment to students, expertise in their craft, and willingness to go above and beyond have helped create classrooms where children feel supported, challenged, and valued. They have fostered a love of learning while maintaining high expectations and providing the care and encouragement every child deserves.
I would also like to thank our School Board members for their leadership, thoughtful governance, and steadfast commitment to our students and schools. Their willingness to listen, collaborate, and make difficult decisions in the best interest of children is deeply appreciated. Equally important is the support of our families and community members whose involvement, volunteerism, and advocacy strengthen our schools and enrich the educational experience for all students.
I am especially grateful for our talented administrative team. Their expertise, professionalism, and dedication ensure that our schools remain focused on continuous improvement while keeping students at the center of every decision. Their commitment to excellence and care for our school community are evident in all they do.
One of the greatest strengths of our district is the way we come together. We are stronger, more resilient, and more successful when we work collaboratively toward a common goal. This year has once again demonstrated that when educators, families, community members, School Board members, and students work together, extraordinary things happen.
As we look ahead to summer, I encourage all of our students to continue learning in meaningful ways. Read often, practice math skills in everyday activities, explore new interests, and most importantly, spend time outdoors enjoying all that summer has to offer. Curiosity, creativity, and learning do not end when the school year does.
Thank you for your continued support, trust, and partnership. Together, we have accomplished much this year, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
On behalf of the entire school district, I wish you and your family a safe, healthy, relaxing, and fruitful summer.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall for another year of learning, growth, and success.
Celebrations
Please join me in celebrating two outstanding Barrington graduates whose achievements exemplify the dedication, perseverance, and excellence we strive to foster in our schools.
Isabelle Grenier – Valedictorian, Coe-Brown Northwood Academy
Isabelle's accomplishments reflect an exceptional balance of academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement. Throughout high school, she was a major contributor to both the indoor and outdoor track and field teams, specializing in discus and competing at both the state and New England levels. She also participated on the softball team and earned the admiration of teachers and coaches alike for her leadership, character, and work ethic.
Academically, Isabelle challenged herself beyond the traditional high school experience through participation in Project Search, a highly competitive, multi-school academic enrichment program. Through this opportunity, she regularly attended college-level seminars and research lectures at the University of New Hampshire, expanding her learning and intellectual pursuits.
Isabelle's positive impact on her school community was equally impressive. Her dedication to school spirit, student engagement, and fostering a positive culture earned her the prestigious Bear Award for three consecutive years. This faculty- and staff-selected honor recognizes students who consistently demonstrate outstanding character, positivity, effort, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Benjamin Boodey – Salutatorian, Oyster River High School
Benjamin's academic achievements and leadership accomplishments are truly remarkable. A National Merit Scholarship Finalist and Eagle Scout, he distinguished himself both inside and outside the classroom through his commitment to scholarship, service, and leadership.
Benjamin served as captain of the math team, trivia team, and quiz bowl team, while also contributing as a member of the Spanish Honor Society. His intellectual curiosity, dedication, and pursuit of excellence earned him numerous honors, including the Business and Economics Award, the Outstanding Achievement in Mathematics Award, and the Brandeis Book Award.
We are incredibly proud of Isabelle and Benjamin. Their accomplishments are a testament to their hard work, determination, and the strong foundation established through their years in the Barrington School District. We congratulate them on these extraordinary achievements and look forward to seeing all they accomplish in the years ahead.

Curriculum and Instruction
🌟 Huge News: Celebrating Incredible Student Growth! 🌟
I am absolutely thrilled to share some phenomenal news regarding our student achievement! The preliminary results from the New Hampshire Statewide Assessment System (SAS) are in, and our students have shown outstanding growth across the board. While official, finalized data will be released by the State in August, the Department of Education has cleared districts to share these unofficial metrics. We simply couldn't wait to celebrate these milestones with you.
To truly understand how incredible these numbers are, we have to look at where we've been. Thanks to the hard work of our students, staff, and families, our district scores have officially returned to pre-COVID levels. In fact, we are now matching academic achievement metrics that we have not seen as a district since 2018.
📊 The Results at a Glance
Our intentional instructional shifts this year—including expanded classroom SAS preparation, a change in testing schedule, and refined teaching techniques—have paid off in a massive way:
One of our takeaways this year involves our i-Ready MyPath program. This year, we focused heavily on ensuring students met the program's minimum recommended weekly usage. The results speak for themselves: increased, consistent use of i-Ready MyPath directly helped students achieve higher overall scores on the SAS assessment. Even though i-Ready and the state SAS test are completely unrelated, the steady skill-building on MyPath clearly gave our students the tools and confidence they needed to excel when it mattered most.
❤️ A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Parents
Last year, our district faced a high assessment opt-out rate. Heading into this testing season, we reached out to you about the critical importance of these assessments—not just as a metric for the state, but as a vital tool for us to understand how to best support your children.
You responded, and we are so incredibly grateful. Thank you for partnering with us, ensuring your children were present and ready to show what they know, and emphasizing the value of education at home. This growth belongs to all of us—our dedicated teachers and administrators, our hard-working students, and our supportive families.
Thank you for making Barrington such a wonderful place to learn and grow. I have enjoyed my first year as the new Curriculum Coordinator to get to know our students and instructional model. Enjoy the summer, and let's keep this amazing momentum going!
Student Services
As we come to the close of another school year, I want to take a moment to thank our families for your continued collaboration, communication, and partnership. Your support plays an essential role in helping our students grow, learn, and succeed, and we are grateful for the strong connections between home and school.
As we look ahead to the summer months, our team will be reviewing our student services procedures and refining areas that warrant further attention to ensure we continue to meet the evolving needs of our students as effectively as possible.
I would also like to share an important update regarding our Extended School Year (ESY) program this summer. Due to septic system work taking place at BES, ESY programming will be relocated this year.
ESY locations will be as follows:
PK and Kindergarten students will continue attending ESY at the ECLC.
Pathways students will also attend ESY at the ECLC.
All other ESY students will attend ESY at the middle school.
We understand that changes in location may bring questions, and we will continue to share additional information regarding schedules, transportation, and other logistics as summer approaches.
Thank you again for your partnership and for all you do to support our students and schools. We are proud of all that our students have accomplished this year. We wish you and your family a safe, enjoyable, and restful summer.
Technology
💻 Technology Update: Building a Stronger Digital Foundation
Dear Barrington Families,
As we wrap up another incredible school year, we want to share an update on how technology is evolving in our district to better serve our students and staff.
Our technology theme for this year was "Maintain and Train." This theme guided our multi-year strategy to seamlessly integrate technology into our daily curriculum while continuously strengthening the district's digital infrastructure. Here is a look at what we accomplished this year and where we are headed next!
🚀 Key Initiatives & Student Safety
Our primary focus is always on enhancing student learning while keeping our digital environment safe and secure.
STEAM Innovation: We continued to embed digital literacy across all subjects, with a special emphasis on innovation in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).
Data Privacy & Security: To fully comply with the NH Student Data Privacy law, we expanded our formal Data Governance Plan. We also began developing a robust ransomware protection plan and a business continuity plan to ensure our schools remain safe from digital threats.
Operational Efficiency: We partnered closely with our Curriculum Coordinator to ensure all web-based classroom resources strictly align with our district approval guidelines
🔌 Infrastructure & Hardware Upgrades
A strong curriculum requires strong tools. This year, we made several targeted upgrades to our physical and digital infrastructure:
Classroom Projectors: Completed Year 2 of our multi-year refresh cycle for interactive classroom projectors.
Teacher Devices: Replaced 30% of teacher MacBooks with high-capacity Chromebooks to streamline classroom management.
Better Connectivity: Increased Wi-Fi coverage across our buildings to ensure reliable internet access for learning.
Student Support Systems: We are continuously evolving our internal data systems to help teachers quickly identify and provide targeted support to struggling students.
🔮 Looking Ahead: Our Vision for the Future
We are always looking for ways to grow. Our long-term vision includes upgrading our Student Information System and adding two key roles to our team: a full-time Learning Systems Administrator and a full-time classroom Educational Technology Integrator. To jumpstart this vision, the district has already begun reallocating current staff to focus on technology integration and essential administrative support, such as class scheduling and gradebook management.
