We Love our Paraprofessionals!
Our Student Council continued their efforts to make sure all groups working with children at Yake Elementary School know how much they are appreciated. The initiative began with our bus drivers in October and continued with our lunch staff members last month. This month, we are proud to recognize our paraprofessionals. They help our Gators in so many ways each and every day. We love our paraprofessional family at Yake Elementary School!

Kids Against Hunger!
Hello Yake 3rd & 4th Grade Parents!
Third and fourth graders from Yake will once again have an opportunity to participate in this year’s Kids Against Hunger event scheduled for Saturday, February 8th taking place at Woodhaven Upper Elementary. Your child will be coming home with a paper for this in the next few days. We are looking to fill 25 spots for 3rd grade and 25 spots for 4th grade. The cost is $5 and the permission slips for each grade are included in this email. The times for each grade are on the permission slips. If you would like another paper copy sent home with your child please let me know and I will make sure they get one. Students can even show up on that Saturday with $5 and will be able to participate! This event provides a great opportunity for our Gators to help others in need and contribute to making a positive difference in the world!
With that said, we are looking for parent volunteers to stay and help with their children! Volunteers will stay with the students, sit with them during the presentation, help them rotate between the different production jobs, and be a cheerleader for the students. If you are interested in staying to help please email me so I can add your name to our volunteer list.
THANK YOU!

By clicking on each image, you can get to a PDF with the full attachments. 4th grade teacher, Mr. Lees and I are judges in the competition and we are so excited to participate again this year.
We will hold the event at WHS Cafeteria on March 5th at 4:30pm. The deadline for recipe submission is February 7th. Sodexo will choose 1 student from each building as a finalist. The winner of our event will be in the running for the National Future Chef Competition! I
This competition is extra special at Yake as Isabelle Sarkody placed second in the nation back in 2016. She had lots of fun and won many prizes along the way.
Mr. Lees & I can't wait to taste some good Gator cooking on the 5th.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this wonderful opportunity for our kids.

Birthday Celebrations!
Birthday Celebrations!
Every child’s birthday is important. However, we must take more care when sending birthday treats to school. In addition to pandemic related precautions, we must also consider student food allergies, student diabetes, and our national push for healthy eating. If you wish to send a prepackaged birthday treat, you will need to either send the treats in with your child in the morning or pull into one of the parent parking spots and call the office to have us come out and pick up the treats from you. Please make sure that the pre-packaged treats have the ingredients listed on the packages. Please label the treats with your child’s name and classroom teacher. Parents will not be allowed to deliver treats into their child’s classroom.
Visitor's & Volunteers!
As a reminder, no outside visitors will be allowed in our school unless they are volunteering or have an appointment. Any parent or visitor wishing to drop off or pick up a child, drop off a backpack or a lunch, etc. will need to call our office at (734)692-2230 for assistance. Staff members will welcome student in, escort students out and/or pick up backpacks, lunches and/or similar items as needed.
Yes, volunteers are welcome. However, they must be i-chat approved and the application is due one week prior to volunteering. To assess an IChat form, (Click here) and then click on the IChat form.
If parents wish to pick students up prior to dismissal, our office must be called before 3:20 p.m. Children will not be walked out to parents after 3:20 p.m.
