FELICITA FAMILY NEWS
Week of September 29, 2024
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE π
π Hello Bobcat Families,
This week we had our first School Site Council Meeting and our 1st Coffee with the Principal. What a turnout we had! Thank you to the 40 parents who took time out of their day to learn more about our school. You are a huge piece of what makes our community wonderful!

PARENT CONFERENCES π
Parent conferences are coming up the week of 10/7. There will be no school on 10/10-10/11 so teachers may hold conferences all day on those days.
If you have not already done so, please return the conference sign-up sheet that went home last week. Our goal is that 100% of families would attend. Thank you!
FELICITA DISCOVERY DAY COMMUNITY INPUT SESSION
We are excited to share an important opportunity for you to help shape the future of Felicita Elementary. EUSD is committed to actualizing the unlimited potential of every learner. In support of this goal, we have partnered with a value-aligned, non profit organization, Learner-Centered Collaborative (LCC) to work with us to define what's possible for students, families, staff, and our community.
As part of our efforts to bring our Framework for the Future to life in all of our classrooms, weβre engaging in a collaborative design process. The first step in this process is to start with listening. When we listen, we build empathy and when we better understand our communityβs experience, we can better design an environment that ensures success for all.
With this in mind, weβre inviting you to a group discovery interview on Wednesday, 10/16/24, where participants will have the opportunity to:
Reflect on your experiences as a student, parent, staff, community member in EUSD
Identify bright spots and opportunities with their current school experience
Think about the skills that are necessary to be a successful member of their community
Ideate on innovation in school
Date: 10/16/24 Time: 8:15-9:15 AM Location: Felicita MPR
We hope to see you there!
PARENT SURVEY
We still need your valuable feedback! Please take a few moments to complete our important survey, which will help us understand and address your needs. Please submit as soon as possible!
If you need assistance with this survey, please contact Laura Aguilera, Family Liaison at 760-432-2444 Ex.14028. Thank you for your time and support!
EUSD GATE PROGRAM
The Escondido Union School District is pleased to continue to offer the Gifted and Talented Education program. For GATE identification, all 2nd-grade students will have the opportunity to participate in universal screening in November. In addition, parents and teachers may recommend students not previously screened in grades 3 through 8 to be screened for GATE eligibility. Parents can pick up the Parent Background and Input Form in the schoolβs front office and should return it to the school by Friday, October 18. A school team will review requests and determine which students will be eligible to be screened in November. For more information, please visit our district website or stop by your school office.
The EUSD GATE website is available for parents to reference.

πΊ ALOHA/HAWAIIAN DAY THIS THURSDAY
Our students have earned 6,261 ROAR points, and we will celebrate with Hawaiian/Aloha Day! They have earned these points for good behavior and following school rules! This Thursday, 10/3, students may participate by dressing up in Hawaiian attire for this spirit day! Please be sure they abide by appropriate dress code policy. No bathing suits permitted.
FELICITA RUNNING CLUB π
Felicita will be launching a Running Club twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays mornings. If your child is in Grades 1-5 and is interested in participating, please return the permission slip that went home last week. We will start October 7th.
Thank you to Yogurtland Escondido for sponsoring our Running Club! This would not be possible without their support. Next time you visit, please let them know you are from Felicita and we are thankful for their support!
ATTENDANCE MATTERS β
Help us reach our attendance goal of 94% average daily attendance!
Regular student attendance plays a critical role in our collective mission to ensure every student achieves their fullest potential.
Why Attendance Should Be a Top Priority:
Academic Achievement: Regular attendance is fundamental to student success. Each school day is a building block in the learning process. Consistent attendance helps students keep up with coursework, understand key concepts, and perform better academically.
Social and Emotional Development: School is a place where students develop crucial social skills and emotional resilience. Frequent absences can hinder their ability to form strong relationships with peers and teachers, impacting their overall development.
Future Opportunities: Consistent attendance is linked to higher graduation rates and better long-term outcomes, including higher education and career prospects. By prioritizing attendance, we are directly contributing to students' future success.
School Culture: Regular attendance fosters a positive school culture and enhances the learning environment for everyone. It creates a sense of community and ensures that all students have equal access to the resources and support they need.
