Let's Beat the Tardies!

We know mornings can sometimes feel like an Olympic sprint but here at TJ we’re rooting for everyone to win gold in punctuality!

Here’s how our morning routine works:

  • 7:30 AM: Doors open
  • 7:45 AM: Students head to their classrooms to start their day, complete their morning routines, and prepare for learning.
  • 8:00 AM: The tardy bell rings, signaling the official start of the day. Any student arriving after this time will be marked tardy.
  • Breakfast: If your child needs to eat breakfast at school, they should arrive by 7:45 AM to have enough time to fuel up and focus.

Arriving on time ensures students can settle in smoothly, hear important announcements, and fully engage in morning lessons. It also helps build habits of responsibility and respect for time ... two traits we value highly.

We understand that some days come with unexpected challenges (missing shoes, forgot to brush your teeth, etc.), but with a little planning, every family can conquer the morning hustle.

Here are a few tips to help:

  • Prepare the night before: Lay out clothes, pack lunches, and check backpacks to avoid morning rushes.
  • Set a consistent bedtime: Ensuring your child gets enough rest will make mornings smoother.
  • Allow extra time: Plan for a little buffer in case of unexpected delays.

Thank you for working with us to make every school day a bright start for your child. If you have questions or need support, we’re here to help!

With warm regards (and an extra cup of coffee),

Carise Echols, Principal

💖Valentines Day Parties💖

Our Valentine’s Day parties will be held on Wednesday, February 12th. This is a special occasion for students to celebrate the holiday with fun activities and treats!

To ensure the safety of all students and teachers, we ask that all treats be store-bought only and please no treats with peanuts. Teachers will communicate any specific classroom needs for the party, so please be on the lookout for that in early February.

Elementary District Procedures and Times

Please keep the following in mind:

  • No check outs after 3:00. This is an adjustment from last year. In order for us to efficiently call your child to the office, no check outs can occur after this time.
  • The district has set new instructional times for the 24-25 school year. Students enter the classroom at 7:45. Instruction begins at 8:00. Instruction ends at 3:15. Buses run earlier in the mornings (about 10 minutes) and later in the afternoons (15-20 minutes).
  • Any student not riding a bus must be dropped off in the car rider line. No Walk Ups.
  • The tardy bell rings at 8:00. If your child arrives at or after this time you must walk them in and sign them in. They will take a tardy slip and go to class.
  • All absence excuses must be received at school the day your child returns from their absence.

No ID, No Entry!

A visible photo ID and visitor badges can aid emergency services. If the police respond to an incident at the school, no matter what type, they can easily see who is authorized to be in the school, who is a visitor, and other information that can be helpful during an emergency.
