Principal's Message
This week’s newsletter is arriving early to remind to all families that our last night of fall parent conferences is tomorrow, Tuesday, from 3pm-7pm. Our book fair is also open that night, and there is still time to provide a donation for our meal for teachers.
If you are unable to attend conferences, you can still stay informed about your student’s progress. Our Weekly Learning Snapshots explain what students are learning in each class, while Campus Parent provides current information about grades and attendance. Links to both resources are available above.
Remember, no school on Thursday and Friday of this week for MEA break!
Please reach out anytime with any questions.
Sincerely,
Jeff

Teacher Meal Donations
On Tuesday, we will provide a meal for our teachers between the end of the school day and the beginning of conferences.
Families who would like to contribute may bring a voluntary cash or check donation to the Skyview main office at Tuesday’s conferences. Students may also drop off donations in the main office. Checks should be made payable to Skyview Middle School.
Thank you for helping us provide this meal for our staff during a long conference day.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Tuesday, October 13: Classroom Conferences
Please remember that conferences are designed to provide brief updates from teachers and should last approximately five minutes. If you would benefit from a longer conversation with one of your student’s teachers, please arrange a separate meeting with that teacher.
Scholastic Book Fair: October 7-14
Skyview is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair October 7-14. Students will attend the fair with their ELA class. The book fair will also be open during conferences on October 8 and 13. This is a great opportunity to stock up on books for this fall and winter! Most books cost between $10 and $15. There will also be a few books for $5. Sales tax is additional. In addition to books, there will be pencils, pens, erasers, bookmarks, journals, posters and more for sale. Payment options include cash, credit card, and eWallet.
Please talk with your child about this upcoming event and take a virtual tour. All purchases benefit our students and school. Thank you for supporting our Skyview Hawks!

Math Extension at the University of Minnesota
The University of Minnesota Math Center for Educational Programs is getting ready for their Saturday Morning Math enrichment courses starting this November.
This program for 5th-7th grade students lets math loving students learn and explore mathematics through games, crafts, and fun! We are offering courses this year on voting theory, origami, game strategy, and more.
Each class encourages students to explore advanced mathematics and its scientific applications from a different perspective. It's a great way to keep excited young mathematicians engaged and spark a love of math in curious students.
A complete list of this year's session dates and topics can be found on our Saturday Morning Math page. If you have students you think would love this course, a flyer is attached with information and links.
