A Message From Dr. Herman
Thank You for a Wonderful Start to the School Year!
Thank you for helping make the first few weeks of school such a wonderful start to the year! We are so excited to have our students back and are grateful for the support and partnership we receive from our families.
The beginning of a school year is always filled with excitement, new routines, and plenty of learning. Our students are settling into their classrooms, getting to know their teachers and classmates, and building important routines and expectations. We are so proud of the way they have started the year!
We also want to thank our parents and families for your patience, communication, and support as we work through the many details that come with the start of a new school year. Your partnership makes a tremendous difference in the success of our students.
We are looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, friendships, and many great memories. Thank you for being an important part of the Myhre Elementary family!
End-of-Day Pickup & Parking Safety
We understand that parking and parent pickup can be difficult, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to keep traffic moving safely.
Starting Tuesday, September 8, parents and caregivers who are waiting along the fence in the parking lot will be asked to move to another area. We have a high volume of traffic traveling through the parking lot for East Gate pickup and buses, and keeping this area clear is important for everyone’s safety.
If you are picking up your child at the East Gate, you may drive through the parking lot to access the East Gate pickup area.
We also want to remind families that the yellow lines along 12th Street are designated as a bus zone. Please do not park or wait in this area. If you are parked in the bus zone, you will be asked to move to another area.
Cash Wise is also not an area for parent parking or pickup. This is a separate business, and they need to have their parking lot available for their customers. Please do not park or wait in the Cash Wise parking lot.
Although these changes may not be ideal, there are many streets available for parking on 12th street near Arbor Avenue. Please plan ahead and talk with your child about where you will meet them for pickup, so everyone knows the new pickup location.
We know that pickup and parking can be challenging, and we truly appreciate your understanding. Our number one priority is the safety of our students, families, and staff.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and for your continued cooperation!
Playground Bike & Scooter Safety Reminder
For the safety of everyone, we are not permitting e-bikes, scooters, or bikes to be ridden in the playground area.
As soon as a student reaches the entrance gate in the morning on a bike or scooter, they must get off and walk it to the bike rack. Please make sure bikes and scooters are secured with a lock, as the school is not responsible for lost or stolen bikes or scooters.
Thank you for helping us keep our playground safe for everyone!

A Memo from Mrs. Masseth our Instructional Coach
Working Together To Support Your Child's Learning
As we begin a new school year, our teachers are working together to plan and strengthen instruction for all of our students. Throughout the year, teachers will be creating unit plans that outline what students will learn and how they will learn it.
These plans will help teachers across each grade level stay aligned and consistent in the important learning experiences they provide. More importantly, they create opportunities for teachers to work together, share ideas, look at student learning, and continually improve their instruction.
When our teachers collaborate and learn from one another, your child benefits. This teamwork helps ensure that students receive strong, purposeful instruction and have the support they need to grow throughout the school year.
We are excited about this work and look forward to partnering with you to make it a wonderful year of learning for your child!

All prescription and non-prescription medicine must arrive in its original container. We will not accept any medication arriving in baggies, envelopes or other types of packaging.
2026 BPS Bond Referendum: What It Means for Jeanette Myhre Elementary School
On November 3, 2026, Bismarck voters will consider a $116.5 million bond referendum to address significant facility needs across Bismarck Public Schools.
The revised proposal is approximately $10.5 million less than the measure considered in June. It focuses on four priorities across the district:
- Keep Students Safe
- Create Better Learning Spaces
- Expand Student Opportunities
- Preserve Our Investment
The projects included in the proposal were identified through BPS's multi-year facilities-planning process, which included professional building assessments, enrollment and demographic analysis, community feedback, and public discussion.
What This Means for Myhre
If the bond is approved, planned projects at our school include:
- New front office and entry area for upgraded security
- Improvements to parent pick-up areas and traffic flow
- Renovation of music and student service spaces
- Multipurpose space addition and kitchen relocation
- Modernization of heating, cooling, ventilation, and energy systems
- Partial roof replacement
Benefits Throughout the District
The bond proposal includes work at schools throughout BPS. Projects beyond Myhre will affect our students as they move through the district, particularly at the middle and high school levels.
- Wachter Middle School
- There are several planned upgrades to accessibility, restroom and locker room families, ventilation, and more at Wachter Middle School.
- Bismarck High School
- BHS will receive additional classroom space, a modernized and enhanced library, building-wide ventilation upgrades, and more.
- District-Wide
- A new centralized kitchen will improve meal offerings and allow for more local ingredients to be used.
- Additional spaces for public use will become available.
BPS currently maintains 32 buildings and more than 3 million square feet of facility space, with an average school age of approximately 47 years. The district invests about $5 million annually in facility maintenance, but many major projects cannot be completed through existing funding without significantly extending the timeline.
The November bond measure requires 60% voter approval to pass. Families can learn more about the complete proposal, individual school projects, tax implications, and the long-range facilities plan at: http://www.bismarckschools.org/2026bond
