Welcome to the 2026 - 2027 School Year!
Dear Joshua Eaton Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We hope you and your family are enjoying a wonderful summer and finding time to relax, recharge, and make memories with loved ones. At JE, we are eagerly preparing for another year of learning, growth, fun, and community.
This is the first edition of our Jaguar Tracks, our weekly school newsletter. Beginning in September, “The Tracks” will be sent to families every Friday and will serve as your one-stop source for all things JE. From important reminders and upcoming events to celebrations and school updates, this newsletter is designed to keep you informed and connected. Please plan to read it each week.
You'll notice that each edition of Tracks includes a few standing sections for your convenience and ease of access. Every week, you'll find a letter from me, PTO updates and announcements, SEPAC information, our school breakfast and lunch menu, and our attendance and absence email information. We hope these consistent features make it easy to find the information you need throughout the year.
This week's newsletter is especially exciting because it includes all of our newest Jaguars! Whether you are joining us as a kindergarten family or are new to the Joshua Eaton community, we extend a very warm welcome. We are so happy you are here and look forward to getting to know you.
We know many families are eagerly awaiting classroom placements. You will receive your child's class placement via email next Friday. As always, this process is thoughtful, thorough, and student-centered. We carefully consider many factors to create balanced classrooms where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.
We can't wait to welcome everyone back soon and begin another incredible year together. Until then, enjoy the rest of your summer: we'll see you soon, Jaguars! Thank you for being such an important part of our Joshua Eaton community. Here's to a wonderful 2026–2027 school year!
Warmly,
Caitlin Shelburne
Principal

Kindergarten Popsicle Playdate
Hello, new JE Families!
Welcome to the Joshua Eaton community! We love our school and hope you will, too!
The Kindergarten Popsicle Playdate is a great opportunity to meet incoming kindergarteners & their caregivers. This event is coordinated by the JE PTO and will be held on Monday, August 24 from 4:30-6pm on the JE playground, rain date of Wednesday, August 26, 4:30-6:30pm. Siblings are welcome, and popsicles will be available for all!
Every year, the PTO offers Welcome Bags to our new students to get them excited about school and to ease some of their new school jitters. This year the bags are FREE! Bags include a Joshua Eaton
t-shirt, stuffed jaguar, and a Joshua Eaton car magnet. Welcome bags will be distributed at the Kindergarten Popsicle Play Date.
If you plan to attend the Kindergarten Popsicle Playdate, please RSVP and provide t-shirt sizing information here by August 17. If you cannot attend, please still RSVP and share your information and size preference, and we’ll communicate another date to pick up the Welcome Bag!

📣 We NEED you! Join the 26-27 PTO Executive Board 📣
Looking for a fun way to get involved and make a lasting impact on our school? We’re looking for volunteers (or co-chair pairs!) to step into two important roles this coming school year:
✨ Grade Level Enrichment Coordinator: Work alongside our K–5 grade-level leads to help bring popular field trips and special class programs to life! You'll keep plans organized and keep the PTO Board & school leaders updated.
✨ All-School Enrichment Coordinator In this role you’ll bring 2–3 exciting, multicultural, or school-themed assembly presentations to the whole school! You’ll research enrichment options, coordinate with Ms. Shelburne, Amy Greco, and the PTO, and oversee event setup/payments.
Both roles can be done individually or shared with a partner—it’s a lot of fun and a fantastic way to support our students!

Reading Public Schools is a METCO District
METCO unites suburban towns with Boston to engage in a reciprocal learning partnership in support of all students. Because of this, every child who attends school in Reading Public Schools is a METCO student and every parent or guardian who has a student in RPS is a part of the METCO community.
"Since its founding during the peak of the Civil Rights Movement, the METCO program has enrolled tens of thousands of Boston students of color in predominately white school districts, creating the opportunity for those districts to experience the advantages of learning and working in a racially and ethnically diverse setting."
