Hello Families,

As we step into the final week of the fall semester, our halls are full of winter cheer! From twinkling lights to cozy classroom moments, students are bringing plenty of holiday spirit to campus.

We’re looking forward to a festive week ahead with simple, fun seasonal activities and time to enjoy this special stretch of the year together. It’s a wonderful way to wind down the semester and welcome the magic of the winter season.

Wishing you and your family warmth, joy, and a very Merry Christmas!

Lost & Found Items

Please be sure to label your child’s items with their first and last name and check any items your child brings home, as jackets and sweaters can easily get mixed up during the day. Next week, our Lost & Found items will be displayed on tables, so please take a moment to look for any missing belongings that may belong to your child.

Substitutes Needed

Hey there! Looking for a great job that makes an impact? You’ve come to the right place, there’s nothing like LIFE. We’re always adding amazing people to our team, and being a substitute teacher is one of the best ways to help students and have a positive influence.

You can apply at https://lifeschool.net/careers-at-life-school

Interested? Fill out the Substitute Application and let’s get started!

Clinic Donations Needed

The clinic is in need of donations for our little leaders! If you have any new, unused boys’ or girls’ underwear, we would greatly appreciate them.

These items are used in the clinic for students who have bathroom accidents, and your contributions help us ensure every student is cared for with dignity and comfort. We could also use snack-size Ziploc bags or disinfectant wipes to help support the clinic. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!

We are so close to the holidays! This time of year can be a joy but can also be stressful for both parents and children. One way to reduce stress is to have family traditions. Research shows that family traditions “help regulate emotions, lower anxiety, and strengthen resilience in kids.” (Spada, Awakened Path website). Talking to your children about the traditions you grew up with and are continuing with them helps them develop self-esteem and family identity. Here is a website where you can even download and print a paper to write about your traditions and favorite memories!

Other ways to reduce stress during the holiday season is to keep your routine. Be sure your kids are getting enough sleep and are coming to school. We are still learning in December along with having fun!

Staying Safe and Healthy Throughout the Holidays

Did you know that December is a season of giving?

While gifts bring joy, it’s also a time when germs can spread easily. If you haven’t already, now is a great opportunity to get your flu shot, and remember that proper handwashing is the most effective way to prevent illness.

When purchasing gifts this holiday season, make sure they are age-appropriate and supervise younger children during play—accidents are the leading cause of injury among kids.

For our older kiddos, please remind them to stay aware of their surroundings when shopping or attending holiday events, limit distractions like phones, and be cautious when using online platforms to avoid scams.

By keeping these tips in mind, we can help all of our students stay safe and healthy throughout the holidays.

Ways to Support Your Child’s Learning at Home Ways to Support Your Child’s Learning at Home

Academic Practice

  • Practice skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s with numbers over 120 (for example: 320, 322, 324, 326…).

  • Use flash cards for sight words, alphabet letters, and math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).

  • Create vocabulary flash cards to reinforce new words in science and social studies.

  • Encourage your child to read daily—the more they read, the more they grow!

Tech Tools for Learning

  • Explore Progress Learning, BrainPOP, Khan Academy, IXL, Zearn, and ABCMouse for engaging online practice in all core subjects (and even Spanish!). These are great for reinforcing classroom concepts or providing extra review when a topic feels challenging.

Hands-On & Non-Tech Options

  • Try fun logic and reasoning games like Brain Cheeser to build spatial thinking skills.

  • Use the Accelerate Learning “Science at Home” activities to extend science learning through simple, hands-on experiments.

Make Learning Part of Everyday Life

  • Keep a small learning box in the car stocked with books, flash cards, and a journal for writing or drawing during downtime.

  • Encourage your child to write daily—stories, journal entries, or reflections about what they’ve learned.

The goal is to make learning engaging, consistent, and part of your family’s daily routine!

Weekly I Will Statements

During morning announcements, we will focus on one LifeLeader Attribute each week and learn what we need to do to develop each attribute so that we can become effective leaders in our school and in our community. We encourage students and families to memorize these statements together and talk about how the attribute is exhibited at home, school and work. We will share the I Will statement in the weekly newsletter and on our campus Facebook page. We look forward to hearing how students are exhibiting the attributes at school and home. LifeLeader School Rules - Growing Leaders of Character

During the first six weeks of school, we’re introducing our LifeLeader School Rules to help students grow as leaders of strong character. Every two weeks, we’ll focus on one of the three school rules, reinforcing positive behaviors that support our mission.

We invite you to partner with us by asking your child how they are demonstrating these school rules both at school and at home.
