LISD Families,

Welcome back! It’s been a joy to watch our campuses welcome students back for the 2026-27 school year. There is nothing quite like the energy of these first days: the excitement, the reunions with friends and the fresh start a new year brings. We appreciate your patience while we work through the routines of the first few weeks, from arrival and dismissal to transportation.

Thank you for trusting us with your children, and for making Lewisville ISD your One Choice for education.

We know families today have more choices than ever when it comes to how and where your children learn, and we do not take your decision lightly. What sets LISD apart is not only the academic excellence we strive for, but the culture we build together, one where traditions unite us and the strength of our programs inspires everyone to find their path.

This year also marks the launch of Imagine 2030, our new long-range plan and the roadmap that will guide LISD in the years ahead. Imagine 2030 is anchored by a renewed mission, to engage and inspire learners and leaders in pursuit of growth and purpose, and a vision that every student is confident, equipped and empowered to thrive in the future they imagine. That word, imagine, is intentional. Our job is not to hand your child a single path, but to prepare them for whatever future they choose to pursue.

Stay engaged with us this year. Follow your campus newsletters and social media channels, and keep an eye out each month for my RAPPort messages, which are filled with updates to keep your family informed.

If you have not yet completed Back to School Forms please do this as soon as possible so your information is up to date for our campuses.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released the latest state accountability ratings on Aug. 14. These ratings measure factors like student achievement on STAAR, academic growth, and preparation for college, careers, or the military. While they provide one snapshot of progress, in LISD we believe students are far more than a test score. That’s why LISD creates Campus Profiles, a local accountability measure to share a fuller picture of the rich educational experiences we provide. Find your school's profile HERE.

Thank you for choosing LISD, for your family and for their future. Together, we will make every day a great day for kids.

Honoring Pfc. Isabella Gonzales

At the Aug. 10 meeting, the LISD Board of Trustees honored the life and service of Pfc. Isabella Gonzales. A 2025 Hebron High School graduate, Isabella enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after graduation. She was killed July 17 while serving on active duty in Jordan. Trustees adopted a resolution recognizing her courage and commitment to service before a commemorative plaque was presented to Pfc. Gonzales' family. A permanent tribute has also been added to LISD's memorial wall in the lobby of the district's administration center.

For the second consecutive year, the ESC Region 11 Secondary Teacher of the Year is from Flower Mound High School. Mary McMinimy received the recognition at Region 11's annual awards ceremony on July 30. McMinimy has spent over a decade creating authentic, real-world learning experiences for the students in her life skills classroom, including the '1240 Tavern on Main' where students serve up delicious meals to LISD staff members. Her students describe her as kind, supportive, and someone who is always there for them. McMinimy advances to the Texas Teacher of the Year competition, where she will represent Region 11 this fall.

Eighth Annual Kindness Week Returns for 2026-27 School Year.

Back in 2018, students from all five LISD high schools set out on a mission to make kindness normal across our district. Today, the #LISDBeKind initiative is a district wide, collaborative effort where students show others the positive change they can create, together. Kindness Week returns on Sept. 14, with a different dress-up theme planned for each day. Order your official LISD Kindness shirt, with proceeds benefiting the LISD Adopt-an-Angel Holiday Gift Program by clicking HERE.
