2nd Grade Newsletter
January 19-23
Hello 2nd Grade Families,
Weβre so proud of the hard work our students put into finishing the MAP assessments this past week! Their growth and determination are truly inspiring. Weβre excited to see all the amazing learning and progress they will continue to make this year.
π Math
In math, weβre using addition and subtraction strategies to solve word problems based on real-life scenarios. Students are learning to read carefully, choose the best strategy, and explain how they found their answers.
π ELAR (English Language Arts & Reading)
In ELAR, we are exploring the unique features of fairy tales. Students are practicing creating mental images while they read to deepen their understanding of different stories. We are also focusing on key plot elements, including the main events, conflict, and resolution, in both read-alouds and independent reading.
πΊοΈ Social Studies
In social studies, students are learning to create and interpret timelines for events in the past and present. Weβre making timelines for events in our own lives, helping students practice using vocabulary related to chronology, like past, present, and future, to better understand the sequence of events.
π Science
In science, students are learning to measure, record, and graph weather information, such as temperature and precipitation. They are practicing how to observe weather patterns and represent their findings with simple charts and graphs.
Have a great weekend!
