Dear Families,

Family Survey Closes Soon!

We value your feedback! Please take a few minutes to complete the Family Survey before it closes. Your responses help us celebrate what is working well and identify areas where we can continue to grow and improve for our students and families. Thank you for partnering with us and sharing your thoughts.

As an added incentive, the grade level with the highest family participation will earn extra recess and popsicles! In the comment section of the survey, please list your child's teacher or grade level.

Thank you!

From the Health Office

As the weather gets warmer and students spend more time outdoors, please help your child come prepared for the school day by applying sunscreen and insect repellent at home before school.

  • Sunscreen should always be applied first, followed by insect repellent.
  • Insect repellent or permethrin products may also be applied to clothing before school.
  • Most insect repellents last approximately 6 hours, so applying them before school is usually sufficient.

We encourage families to apply these products at home whenever possible.

Please note the following school health requirements regarding sunscreen use at school:

  • Students may only possess and apply sunscreen at school with both:
    • a doctor’s note stating the student may use sunscreen and self-apply, and
    • parent/guardian permission.
  • Only lotion sunscreen is permitted at school.
  • Spray sunscreens are not allowed due to asthma triggers, inhalation concerns, and eye irritation risks.
  • State protocol generally prohibits teachers and school staff from applying sunscreen to students unless there is explicit medical authorization.

Thank you for helping us keep students safe, healthy, and comfortable during outdoor activities.

Heights and Weights

The health office will be doing Heights and Weights on 1st and 4th graders, along with scoliosis screening for 5th graders in the following weeks. If parents wish to opt out of the screenings, have them email me kshove@lenoxps.org

Title I Family Survey Results

Thank you to the families who completed the annual Title I Family Survey this spring. Each year, Title I families are invited to provide feedback regarding communication, curriculum, progress reports, and educational services. Your input helps us evaluate our programs and plan for the upcoming school year.

Survey Highlights

  • Sixteen Title I families responded to the survey.
  • Overall, families reported satisfaction with communication from the Title I interventionists.
  • Families identified reading, mathematics, and written expression as the areas where they believe Title I support is most important.

Title I Services at a Glance
This year, Title I services supported:

  • 53 students in English Language Arts (ELA)
  • 47 students in Mathematics
  • 30 students received support in both ELA and Mathematics

Conferences with Title I Interventionists
Some families indicated they were not aware that they could meet with Title I interventionists during conference times. We encourage families to sign up for conferences during the fall parent-teacher conference period. We are also available throughout the year and welcome any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to working together to support student success.

Here is the schedule for the PTO Birthday Lunches this school year:

June: Monday, June 1st

July: Friday, June 4th

Parents and caregivers with active CORIs on file can participate in the PTO birthday lunches by helping to hand out treats and prizes. If you’d like to volunteer to help at one or more of the PTO birthday lunches, please email Haley Holmes (haleykayeholmes@hotmail.com).

CORI and DCF Background Checks for End-of-Year Activities

As we begin planning for our upcoming end-of-year events and activities, we want to remind families that any parent or guardian who plans to volunteer must have an up-to-date CORI and DCF background check on file with the school.

If you are interested in volunteering, please make sure your paperwork is completed ahead of time.

  • If you already have a CORI on file, please check that it is still current.

  • If this is your first time completing a CORI, please come to Morris School with a valid ID so we can process your form.

If you need to complete or renew your CORI/DCF background check, please contact:

  • Amy Freeman – afreeman@lenoxps.org

  • Ana Carpenter – acarpenter@lenoxps.org

Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe while supporting our end-of-year events!
