Good Morning,
I attempted to send this out last evening. I apologize that all families did not receive this information, there was a technological error with the communication. I recognize this proposal has caused upset and concern in the BLOCKS community. I hope you find comfort in our decision to withdraw the proposal for this school year.
Thank you,
Christina
Update 2/4/2024
After much reflection and discussion, the District is going to withdraw the proposal to transition any classrooms out of BLOCKS/Juniper Hill at this time. We will not be advancing a lease to the Framingham School Committee or City Council for a vote.
The opportunity to bring the district into compliance with special education requirements while simultaneously expanding Pre-K access for families is an important element of the 2023-2030 Strategic Plan, yet we are mindful that a mid-year shift is difficult. We want our Pre-K expansion efforts to be celebrated and supported by all in our community as we remove barriers for students and families and we certainly do not want this important strategic effort to divide us.
We will be working with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to address any compliance issues and we will continue to reallocate space within BLOCKS in order to properly address student learning needs in the short-term. As we forward plan, we will provide frequent updates to the BLOCKS school community and create opportunities for input and collaboration.
Thank you for the feedback that you have provided in recent days and for your continued patience with us as we adjust the pace of our well-intentioned efforts to support all of our students and families.
Sincerely,
Christina Shea
