PLE Updates

October 8, 2026

Pine Lane Crew,

It has been such a joy to be able to connect with so many of you at Parent/Teacher Conferences. I hope the conversations and information you were able to glean from your child’s teacher were meaningful. Again, we appreciate the partnership as we seek to support your efforts to prepare your child for life. It is a true honor to be entrusted with your child each day.

Next week is Fall Break, and I hope all of you have some plans for rest and refreshment over the week. If you are like me, you probably have a to-do list that needs addressing as well.

One activity that I would encourage you to do with your child is to nominate a Pine Lane Staff member who has made a difference in their life for an Apple Award. These nominations go directly to our staff, and it brings great satisfaction for our staff to hear the impact that they make each day. The Foundation for Douglas County Schools will be accepting nominations through October 26th. Linked here is the nomination form: 2026 Pine Lane Apple Award Nominations.

As we come back from break, we hit the ground running. We have Candy Wars underway as we prepare for Fall Festival on October 30th. Wednesday, we will hold our second SAC Meeting, and we would encourage you all to attend either in person or virtually to stay informed on our school improvement efforts. We are also starting to get into the middle of our Field Trips. This week, third grade went to the Capital, and our Discovery class has a trip to the Challenger Learning Center as we come back. This year's fundraising efforts are going directly to the cost of transportation for these amazing educational experiences, and we appreciate your support in helping with these efforts.

We wish you all a wonderful fall break and look forward to seeing everyone back again on October 19th!

Bus Cancellations

Due to a shortage of bus drivers there is a weekly rotation of bus cancellations. Please make sure to update how your student will go home on the weeks their bus is cancelled in Pik My Kid.

Currently Bus 151 and 141 is fully staffed and will not have any further "scheduled" cancellations as of this time.

Our SAC meetings are a great opportunity for families to stay informed, learn more about our school's improvement efforts, and engage in meaningful conversations about the continued growth and success of Pine Lane Elementary.
