From the Principal – Growing Together, Stronger Every Day From the Principal – Growing Together, Stronger Every Day

Hello Riverview Families,

It has been another wonderful week at Riverview, and we are so proud of the way our Falcons continue to grow and learn each day. One of the things that makes Riverview such a special place is the strong partnership we share with our families. When home and school work together, students thrive—and that collaboration is at the heart of all we do.

As we look ahead to next week’s Parent–Teacher Conferences, I want to highlight just how valuable these conversations are. Conferences provide a chance to celebrate your child’s progress, set meaningful goals for growth, and ensure we are working side by side to support their success. Your insight and input are essential, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to partner with you in your child’s learning journey.

Upcoming Building Events:
September 24–25: Parent–Teacher Conferences (sign-up button below)

Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and collaboration. Together, we are helping every Falcon SOAR!

Warmly,

Dr. Urban
Riverview Principal

Attendance & Punctuality Reminders Attendance & Punctuality Reminders

  • Our doors open for students at 8:30 AM, and classroom instruction begins promptly at 8:45 AM.
  • Please help remind your child to be in their seat and ready to learn by 8:45—every minute counts, and there is so much exciting learning to be done each day!
  • If your child will be absent, please notify both the office and their classroom teacher. Consistent attendance and on-time arrivals help set students up for success.

Connect, Align, Grow Connect, Align, Grow

At Riverview, our Connect, Align, and Grow goals aren’t just for school, they thrive when our whole community is part of the journey.

  • Connect: Building strong, trusting relationships between students, staff, and families helps every child feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.

  • Align: Working together—home, school, and community, means students hear consistent messages and expectations wherever they go.

  • Grow: When we nurture curiosity, resilience, and responsibility, students become confident learners and caring citizens who make a difference in our community.

Each week, we’ll share a simple way you can support these goals at home and in the community.

CONNECT – Family & School Partnerships

At Riverview, we believe strong connections between families and school help every Falcon SOAR. Parent–Teacher Conferences are an important opportunity for us to celebrate progress, set goals, and work together to support each child’s growth. When students know their families and teachers are on the same team, they feel valued and motivated to reach for their best.

How Families Can Help This Week:
Before conferences, ask your child what they are most proud of so far this year, what goals they have, or what they’d like to get even better at. Writing these down or practicing sharing them helps students take ownership of their learning and makes the home–school connection even stronger.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to share that our school’s Book Fair is right around the corner! From September 22–24, students will have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair during the school day to shop for books they’ll love. Families will also have the chance to shop together during Parent-Teacher Conferences.

To make shopping even easier, we strongly encourage the use of the Scholastic eWallet. This is a safe, cash-free option that allows your child to make purchases without handling money at school. Setting up an eWallet is quick and simple, and it’s a stress-free way to ensure your child can enjoy the Book Fair. Click here to set up your student's eWallet!

We are also looking for a few wonderful parent volunteers to help us with set-up before the fair begins and tear-down once it wraps up. Your support will help make the event a success for all of our students! Check out available spots here!

Thank you in advance for your enthusiasm and for encouraging a love of reading in our school community. We can’t wait to see all of the students explore the great books coming our way!

Responsibility Means Doing Your Part

At Riverview, we are continuing our focus on Responsibility. Responsibility is more than doing what’s expected—it’s about doing your part to help our classroom, school, and home communities run smoothly. When students practice responsibility, they learn that their actions matter and that others can count on them. This builds confidence and independence as they grow.

Family Connection Idea:
Give your child a “lead role” in a family routine this week—such as setting the table, feeding a pet, or helping with recycling. Afterwards, talk about how it felt to be trusted with that responsibility and why it was important to the family. These small steps show students that responsibility isn’t just a school skill, but a life skill that makes a real difference.

Our focus for next month will be Kindness.

Celebrations & Shoutouts Celebrations & Shoutouts

This week, I’d like to recognize Ms. Mollach and Mrs. Cramer!

These ladies are amazing! We want to give a big shout to them for the wonderful work they are doing in the library and around the building. Ms. Mollach, new to Riverview this year, has jumped right in with energy and creativity. She has already introduced engaging activities to spark students’ love for reading and is busy planning and organizing the upcoming Book Fair with the help of Mrs. Cramer, staff, and parent volunteers. We are so glad she has joined our team!

A big thank you also goes out to Mrs. Cramer, who continues to go above and beyond to support students and staff. She is always willing to jump in and help wherever needed, and her fun and energy are contagious. Whether it’s in the library, the lunchroom, or out front in the car loop, she always brings the fun! Mrs. Cramer engages with every student and brings a smile to their faces with each interaction.

What an amazing team for sure! If you haven’t already, stop by the Book Fair next week to see their hard work and energy in action!

Nurse Updates Nurse Updates

A nurse is now available in the office, so please feel free to call or stop by if you need to:

  • Drop off medications or medication orders

  • Inform us of any new health conditions

  • Provide updated immunization records (especially if your child is new to Riverview)

  • Submit a physical exam form (required if your child is attending a Kansas school for the first time and is 8 years old or younger)

We also recommend keeping a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. Accidents and spills—especially during lunch—are common, and we may not always have extra clothing in the right size.

If you prefer, you may also email our nurses directly:

Jill Freisberg – jfreisberg@usd232.org
Nancy Tausz – ntausz@usd232.org

Visitor Management System Visitor Management System

USD 232 continue using visitor management system this year through Centegix. All visitors will continue checking in through the office, however an ID will be a requirement. This ID will be entered into the Centegix system and will create a sticker with a picture that must be visibly worn throughout the building. Nobody will be allowed in the building without an ID. Thank you in advance for your patience as we implement this new system!

Car Loop Tips for a Smooth Pick-Up & Drop-Off

To help keep our car loop moving safely and efficiently:

  • Have your child practice getting in and out of their car seat or seatbelt on their own.

  • Parents, please stay in your vehicle—our staff or Honor Patrol helpers will assist as needed.

  • A folder, sign, or paper with your student’s name displayed helps us get them to your car more quickly.

Thank you for helping us keep the process safe, smooth, and speedy for everyone!

Forgot Something? Use Our Drop-Off Table! Forgot Something? Use Our Drop-Off Table!

For your convenience, we have a Drop-Off Table located just inside the front doors. If your student forgot something, like their lunch, instrument, glasses, or any other classroom item, you can simply buzz in, drop it off, and be on your way. No need to sign in or go through the visitor management system. Just remember to write your student’s name on the sticky notes provided so we can make sure it gets to them quickly. Thank you for helping keep our drop-offs smooth and efficient!
