From the Principal...

November 1 kicked off feeling like January 1! It brings us a quick reminder of the needs of snow pants, boots, hats and gloves! We require them on the playground during recess time if students want to play in the snow, so please send items to keep in their cubbies!

October was a busy month!

  • We had a successful Laps for Lakeview and an exciting and well-attended Trunk or Treat event!
  • We had visits by the Whitewater Police Department who read to our youngest students as well as a visit by the Whitewater rescue and Lauderdale/LaGrange fire department. Thank you to those groups for keeping us safe and finding time in your busy schedules to share your day with us!
  • We also had our picture retake day and the Literacy Parent night which both went well and provided opportunities for our families to learn what's new at Lakeview with our Literacy instruction.
  • Kindergarten and First grade had a successful trip to Busy Barns!
  • The Lakeview 5th grade band performed for the entire school and had a wonderful performance for families after school! Their hard work is definitely paying dividends!
  • Students came back ready to learn after a nice 4 day weekend for fall break!
  • We took the opportunity to show our style at the Lakeview Halloween Parade at the end of the day on the 31st.

We don't stop there! November is a busy month as well!

  • The Veterans Day Assembly for students is on Nov 8!
  • Lakeview Book Fair during conference week Nov 6-8
  • Parent Teacher Conferences are Nov 8-9!
  • Craft night at Lakeview is Nov 14 from 5:30-6:30
  • VIP day for students to bring a "Very Important Person" to school with them in the morning is on November 21!
  • Thanksgiving break begins on Nov 22!
  • Lakeview 5th grade students will be the "student reporter" at the school board meeting on Nov 27!
  • We end the month with vision screenings on Nov 30th.

With that all being said, you should have received information about your child's scheduled conference. If you have not seen anything, please connect with your child's classroom teacher. We have the expectation at Lakeview that we have 100% attendance for conferences, so if you cannot make the scheduled date/time, please contact the teacher to reschedule or schedule a phone conference.

As always, thank you for partnering with us to provide a great educational experience for your child! If you need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Veterans Day Assembly

Wednesday, November 8 will be the annual Vetarans day assembly at Lakeview. It will be taking place at 9am. This is an event for students, where we take the time to honor our veteran and active servicemen and women. Its a way to show our appreciation for the sacrifices made by others to allow us to have the freedoms and opportunities that we have.

We are looking for more Veterans and active servicemen and women to participate in our assembly. If you know of one or more, please send their contact information to me at abretl@wwusd.org or call 262-472-8401. Thank you for your support!

Welcome Mrs. Cutshall

Hello Families:

The 2023-24 school year is underway and I am excited to be a part of it. My name is Shirley Cutshall. I was the school counselor at Lincoln Elementary and Family Connections Coordinator at WUSD for many years. I was here the first semester of 2021 as a sub also. I look forward to being at Lakeview as the school counselor this year. My schedule is Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

My goal as your school counselor is to help all Lakeview students grow and develop academically, socially, and emotionally through classroom lessons, small groups with various topics, responsive services, and individual student support.

From American School Counselors Association: The elementary school years set the foundation for developing the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent and confident learners. Elementary school counselors have an impact on these years by implementing a school counseling program and collaborating with school staff, parents and the community to create a safe and respectful learning environment. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, elementary school counselors help their students achieve academic success, develop an understanding of career opportunities and develop social/ emotional skills in response to issues they face.

Sincerely,

Shirley Cutshall LPC

Lakeview Attendance Goal

Attendance is crucial to having a successful learning experience. It is easy to lose track of the number of days a student misses from school. Increasing our school-wide attendance is a goal this year and to help monitor our progress, we will be sharing out monthly attendance reports through our "Attendance Tracker"

Currently, we have 214 students at Lakeview and in the first two months we have missed 446 days of school. That averages to slightly more than two days per student!

Great work to those who have not missed a day!
