Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week pupils have taken part in a wide variety of activities for Children's Mental Health week and Safer Internet Day. Both these important themes have really helped all children to focus on their own safety and well-being. We will continue these valuable, empowering conversations throughout the school year, as we believe our pupils' well-being is so important, going hand in hand with making positive choices for themselves.
Thank you for supporting your child's learning this half term. I hope that everyone enjoys the half term break and gets to spend some quality time with their loved ones. I look forward to see all pupils back at school on Monday 23rd February.
Best wishes,
Ms R McGylnn

Events
Safer Internet Day
On Tuesday 10th February, all classes celebrated Safer Internet day. The children participated in live lessons with hundreds of other school across the country and engaged with a variety of activities to really get them thinking about how to keep themselves and other safe online. The main focus this year was the risks and benefits of using AI and what this technology could mean for the future. Well done children to your insightful discussions and thoughtful learning about such an important topic.
New kids online safety website launched as part of government campaign
The Government are launching a new website on 16 February 2026 to support families and encourage regular conversations about what they’re seeing online, asking simple questions, like “who shared this” and “why?”. Based on parents’ main concerns and needs, it provides:
tips for parents’ conversations with their children
actions to support each stage of their child’s life
parental controls information
If your child does access the internet at home, please be reminded to monitor their use and be mindful that what they are accessing is age appropriate and safe.
Children's Mental Health Week
This week we celebrated National Children's Mental Health week. The Mental Health Support Team kicked off the week with assemblies at both sites, focusing on how we can look after our own mental health and how our behaviour can impact the wellbeing of others. The main theme this year was 'This is my place' and pupils were encouraged to focus on exploring their sense of belonging; learning that feeling like we belong can have a powerful effect of our mental health. In class, pupils took part in a variety of activities from dance and role play, to music and circle time. We will continue these important conversations throughout the year.

KS2 Day of Joy!
On Friday 13th February, children at Upper site enjoyed a 'Day of Joy', led by Mrs Rodrigues and the pupil voice groups. The Day of Joy, encouraged everyone to live out God's love; taking time to remember that we are all made in God's image. Today, we showed our love for God and others through our actions. Pupils made an effort to let their friends and classmates know that they are loved - sharing a smile, paying each other thoughtful compliments and doing acts of kindness for one another. During play time the Pupil Voice Groups invited everyone to dance for joy. What a wonderful way to end the week!
Local Walk
On Wednesday 11th February, both year 1 classes took part in a Local area walk . They were excited to discover local shops, meet green fingered members of our local community at Walthamstow Wildside Community Garden, saw the ancient house on church road and observed trains gone passed on over ground train tracks.
Blessing of our School
On 2nd February, we celebrated Candlemas, marking the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, 40 days after Christmas. Father Shajin visited our school and blessed our classrooms, pupils and staff with Holy Water. Each class was presented with a blessed candle representing Christ as the "light to the nations". This was a wonderful occasion and we are so lucky to have Father's blessing as we continue this school year. Many thanks to Father Shajin and Mrs Rodrigues for organising this.
Year 1 Teddy Bear's Picnic
As part of the History Unit of 'How have toys changed over time??', Year 1 got together for a little picnic. They were able to share teddies and a snack together. Pupils even got to meet some teddies that were more than 50 years old! Thank you to all the adults who contributed to the success of the picnic. The children had a great time.
Class Assemblies
Over the last half term, we have enjoyed class assemblies from Resilience, Truth and Honesty Class. It has been wonderful to see pupils in each class speaking so confidently, singing, dancing and sharing their learning journeys with us. Thank you to all the parents and carers who were able to come along to watch, and to the pupils and staff for all their hard work. We look forward to watching more class assemblies after the half term break.

Prayer & Reflection
Prayer Room
Our prayer room contribution come from Gift and Kelsy, Year 6 and Hebron Year 4.
Heavenly Father,
Help me to be a role model to others around me.
Help me to be an excellent role model towards other pupils,
physically and emotionally.
Guide me to be a better person and to be closer to you as Mary said
"Yes" to your call immediately.
Father God, help me to see how I can be a blessing to those around me.
Thank you for my friends and family and all the gifts that you grant me.
Help me to be a bolder person, helping those with struggle.
We pray that you bless the lame and poor and humble and wealthy.
Help me to become a protagonist and a true example of a child of God.
Amen
By Gift and Kelsy
Dear God,
Thank you for all the learning and education you have helped us with today.
Guide us as we learn lots and lots more in our life and future.
Help us grow in wisdom, kindness and understanding.
Make us follow the correct footsteps in your pathway.
Bless the homeless and heal the sick.
Amen

A Reflection for February
February is often associated with love as we celebrate St.Valentine’s Day. We are reminded that love is much deeper than flowers or cards. Love is at the heart of our faith. “God is love”. Everything we believe flows from that truth.
This month invites us to reflect on how we show Christ-like love in our daily live. Do we love only when it is easy, or do we choose love when it is difficult? Jesus showed us that real love is sacrificial. He forgave those who hurt Him, welcomed those who were rejected, and gave His life for us on the Cross. That kind of love is patient, kind, and selfless.
February also calls us to examine our relationships—with our family, friends, classmates or coworkers, and even people we struggle with. Are we quick to judge, or do we try to understand? Do we hold grudges, or do we forgive as Christ forgives us?
As we continue through Ordinary Time and begin preparing for Lent, this month is a reminder that holiness is found in ordinary acts of love: helping someone without being asked, listening with attention, praying for someone in need, or choosing kindness instead of anger.
This February, let us pray that our becomes more like the Sacred Heart of Jesus—compassionate, merciful, and full of love. May we not only speak about love but live it every day.
