Developing Students to Succeed in the Global Community
Message from the Principal
What an amazing start to the school year we've had! It has been wonderful to see our students' energy and enthusiasm as they settle into their classes and reconnect with friends. This year is off to a fantastic start, and it's thanks to our incredible students, dedicated staff, and you, our supportive families.
We’ve already packed so much into these first few weeks. Our all-school assembly was a huge success, and the unveiling of our new mascot, Rowdy, brought so much excitement to the gym. We were honored to have a visit from Superintendent Dr. Heller, who spoke with our students and the community, shared an inspiring message about the importance of taking care of each other and leadership that we all can bring to Loveland HS.
The support we saw at the recent Corn Roast Parade was truly heartwarming. Seeing so many of you cheering along the route showed just how strong our school community is. Our Fall athletics season is also in full swing, and it's been a thrill to watch our student-athletes compete. You will notice more activity around the Sculpture Park as our Softball and Baseball fields construction is underway.
Thank you for your continued partnership. We are looking forward to a great year ahead!
Go Loveland!!!

Supporting Students’ Future Pathways through ICAP
This month, LHS will continue to support students with their Post-Secondary and Workforce Readiness through the Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP).
The ICAP is a Colorado initiative designed to help students and families explore career and postsecondary opportunities. Its main goals are to:
Build awareness, knowledge, and skills for planning future pathways.
Help students recognize their strengths and interests.
Support informed academic and career decisions.
Develop essential life skills, such as financial literacy and self-awareness, to prepare for college, career, or military service.
At Thompson School District, students in grades 6–12 use Xello, an online platform, to create their own ICAP. Through Xello, students explore career and college options, learn more about themselves, and build a personalized plan for their future.
Stay tuned—more information on this month’s ICAP activities will be shared soon!

Standing On Business
What’s happening in the LHS Business Department?
10 years and Still Going Strong.
10 years ago, the business department at LHS went through a dramatic transition. Mr. Lussenhop, Mr. Clark and myself (Mr. Lynn) were all hired the same year and a new era in Business Learning at LHS began. When the three of us initially met and talked about what we wanted here at LHS, we all agreed that we wanted to be compared to the best Business departments in the state. That meant a fresh focus on building relationships with students, an emphasis on 21st century learning/skills and a commitment to taking our DECA and FBLA Chapters to the next level.
Heading into our 10th year at the helm and we have surpassed many of our goals. Achievements up to now include but are not limited to-
8 DECA State Champions
4 FBLA State Champions.
A 7 year undefeated record in the TSD Entrepreneurship Series (now defunct, RIP).
The implementation of TWO School Based Enterprises, Both our Red and Black Snack Shack concessions and our Wolf Warehouse apparel store.
Dozens of business internships and apprenticeships.
HUNDREDS of students moving on to study business at college.
With all these collective accolades, we have no intention of slowing down. In fact just this year we started what may be our most ambitious project yet. This year we rolled out a Comprehensive Cohorted Pathway called the High School of Business (Like College of Business). This program allows students to concentrate on business learning in high school and earn college credit for those students who complete the pathway. It is modeled after College Business Programs and is created by MBA Research, the world’s premiere High School Business Curriculum Organization.
If your student is in grade 9 and is showing an interest in business classes this is a FANTASTIC way for them to immerse themselves in Project Based Business Learning while earning college credit. They can sign up for the Sophomore classes Principles of Business and Business Economics. The pathway will also achieve the State requirements of Personal Finance as well as Economics. Courses include, in order-
Leadership and Ethics
Wealth Management
Principles of Business
Business Economics
Principles of Marketing
Principles of Finance
Principles of Management
Business Strategies
To give you a glimpse into the Leadership and Ethics course we are currently teaching we have already had 2 guest speakers including our new superintendent Dr. Heller who talked about his leadership journey, and the Store Manager from a local Starbucks who talked about the ethical implications of corporate scandals. Students in the class will complete projects that include Service Learning Projects, Analyzing Ethical Leaders and a Handbook for Middle Schoolers so that they can develop into ethical leaders in High School.
We cannot wait for what the next 7 courses have to offer your student!
We, the business department at LHS, firmly believe that this unequivocally makes LHS Business the premiere high school business department when compared to the other 40+ high schools north of Boulder. We are excited to bring that level of learning and skill development to your student(s) continuing in our tradition of making students Confident, Competent, and Connected.
