Principal Duckworth's Notes

Welcome back to the 2026-2027 school year! I hope that everyone has enjoyed their summer and are excited about beginning this upcoming school year. To my new Northglade Families, WELCOME!! We are excited to have you as part of the team!! You will soon learn how unique Northglade Montessori is and how much we care about each of our families. I am your proud principal, ReQwal Duckworth. Our staff and I are ready to get back in the building to start teaching our students. However, as you know, we will be at 3333 S. Westnedge, Kalamazoo, Mi. 49008 for this upcoming school year. Below you will find information regarding our school that should help you navigate our structure.

Tomorrow begins the start of the 26-27 School year. Tomorrow, we will have a half day of school, dismissing at 12:00 noon. When students arrive in the morning, they may either go to the cafeteria to eat breakfast, or go inside the fenced area, where they will find their class line, identified with a sign. There will also be staff there to assist students in finding their lines and teachers.

If you are dropping off your student, please remember that you may not get out of your car when coming through the Drop Off Line, passing the front door. If you need to exit the vehicle for any reason, please, find a parking spot.

If you are planning on picking up your student, please find a parking spot to come and receive your student(s). Please do not remove students from the adult's supervision without notifying the adult.

The safety and security is one of our top priorities. On Friday, I sent out arrival and dismissal procedures. Being in a new building this year, we may need to make changes to ensure the safety of all students. Below are the arrival and dismissal procedures. The Preschool Arrival and Dismissal plans have been updated below.

We are so excited to have all of our students back. For grades Kindergarten - 5, the first day will be a half day of school, dismissing at 12:00 pm. Tuesday, Sept. 1, Pre-K students will join us for their first day. We will have school Monday - Thursday this week. Friday, Sept. 4, and Monday September 7, there will be no school, in observance of Labor Day.

Here is the schedule for the first two weeks of school:

Monday, August 31st

½ Day of School

(No Pre-K, Dismissal at 12:00)

Tuesday, Sept. 1st

First Full Day of School

(1st Day for Pre-K -Dismissal at 8:50 -11:50 am & 12:50 - 3:50 pm)

Friday, Sept. 4th

&

Monday, September 7th

No School

(Labor Day Weekend)

Tuesday, September 8th - Friday, Sept. 11th

Second Week of School

Coffee for Caregivers will take place at drop-off the morning of September 17th. There will be volunteers bringing it directly to your vehicle, or feel free to park and say hello.

As a parent / caregiver, you are automatically part of Northglade’s PTO (Parent Teacher Organization). Join the monthly virtual meetings from home, kid’s practice, while making dinner, or wherever you are! Choose to have your camera and microphone on or off-whatever feels comfortable.

The PTO meeting on the 17th will take place virtually from 5:00-5:30pm
