Student Spotlights
Check out some of Titans and their accomplishments!
Berea-Midpark High School senior Amy Truong has matched with Stanford University through the QuestBridge National College Match.
This is an incredible achievement. Amy earned a full four-year scholarship to one of the nation’s top universities through a program that recognizes exceptional academic talent and remarkable perseverance.
We are so proud of you, Amy! Your hard work opened this door. Your future is bright.
We are proud to share that Berea-Midpark High School student Lea Jacobs earned top recognition at the 2025 TECH CORPS Hackathon. Lea, a 10th grader, was named a regional winner in this statewide mobile app development challenge that brought together nearly 300 students across Ohio.
Lea and her team, TERIYAKI, created an app designed to help people connect with their community so they can easily find the support they need. Students spent nine hours designing, coding, and presenting innovative solutions inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
As a regional winner, Lea received a $200 digital gift card for creativity, teamwork, and commitment throughout the event. Her work will be recognized during the TECH CORPS statewide celebration on December 10.
Throughout the challenge, Lea demonstrated the Portrait of a Titan competencies. She thought critically about a real community need. She collaborated with her team to design a solution. She communicated her ideas clearly. And she showed adaptability as she worked through the nine-hour build. These are the skills that matter. We are proud to see Lea put them into practice on a statewide stage.
Deionna Borders, Berea-Midpark, Senior
“From the season-opening Walsh Jesuit Ironman to the 235-pound state championship match at the Division I State Tournament last season, Borders had her hand raised in victory 47 times after 47 matches. Borders became a three-time state placer and a first-time state champion with a 4-0 state performance – a first-round pin, a major decision, and two shutouts. All told, Borders did not allow a single point the entire weekend. She became the first Ironman, district, state and Fargo champion in program history, and has the record for most single-season wins. She was Southwestern Conference, Greater Cleveland Wrestling Coaches Association and Cleveland.com Girls Wrestler of the Year.”
