Issue #10
Hello Golden Bear Families,
As I look back on the week, I can’t help but smile at all the wonderful things happening at TVHS! Even with the rain, our campus was full of learning, connection, leadership, and so many opportunities for our students and staff. These are the weeks that remind me how much I love being a part of our Golden Bear family!
If you haven’t had a chance to see our latest drama production, Trap, you still have tonight and tomorrow to catch it in the Golden Bear Theatre. I was completely enthralled by the story, and there are SO many surprises! Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!
Our student-athlete leaders attended the Sportsmanship Conference at Murrieta Mesa and enjoyed a day filled with inspirational speakers and activities focused on leadership and sportsmanship. Our ASB students also welcomed students from other high schools to the Golden Bear Theatre for the Jostens Renaissance Conference, Love Mondays. The theatre was filled to capacity, and students left feeling inspired and energized with ideas for building positive, enriching cultures on their campuses. I love seeing our students take these opportunities to grow as leaders!
We also had the opportunity to connect with our families and continue learning how we can better support our students. Thank you to the parents and students who joined us for our ELAC and CAP meetings as we shared the many resources available to support our English Learners. Your partnership and input truly matter!
We were also happy to welcome Superintendent Dr. Velez to campus as she visited our Advisement classes. Our Lunch with a Bear gave teachers a chance to enjoy lunch and meaningful conversations with selected students, and several of our teachers spent a day shadowing an English Learner to experience the school day through that student’s eyes. These experiences remind us how important it is to listen, learn, and continue finding ways to support every Golden Bear.
I am so proud of our students and staff and all the ways they make TVHS such a special place. Thank you to our families for being such an important part of our Golden Bear community.
Have a wonderful weekend, and as always, GO BEARS! 🐻💛

ELAC & CAP Meeting ~ Student Celebration
A huge thank you to our LCAP counselors, Intervention Specialist, administrators, parents, and students for participating in our second ELAC meeting and our first CAP meeting! We appreciate your partnership and shared commitment to supporting our English Learners throughout their academic journey. Please take a moment to review the slideshow below to learn more about the many supports and resources available to help our students thrive. Together, we are creating golden opportunities for all of our Golden Bears!
EL Shadowing Day
Great Instruction Happening On Our Campus
On Thursday, our English Learner (EL) District Team and three of our teachers spent the day shadowing EL students to better understand their school experience and see learning through their eyes. By joining students in their classrooms throughout the day, our team had the opportunity to reflect on the instructional practices and supports that help our English Learners feel confident, engaged, and successful in their learning.
The team will share what they learned with our department teams so we can continue building on effective strategies that support students in developing their academic language while accessing grade-level content. I’m grateful to our teachers and district team for taking the time to learn alongside our students and reflect on how we can continue to grow together. This is such an important part of our commitment to making sure every Golden Bear feels supported, has a sense of belonging, and has the opportunity to succeed!

We encourage all families to review our student handbook, available on the TVHS website, to stay up to date on our school policies and procedures. We have made updates to our tardy and truancy policies, academic eligibility for extracurricular activities, and cell phone policy. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure our students understand and follow these expectations. Your support makes a difference in helping us maintain a positive, focused, and supportive learning environment for all of our Golden Bears!
CELL PHONE POLICY
Thank you to our Golden Bears for your continued cooperation with our cell phone policy and for placing your phones in the classroom phone corrals each period, including Advisement. We appreciate your partnership in helping us make the most of every instructional minute and maintain a classroom environment where students can focus, engage, and learn without the distractions of cell phones.
We know it takes all of us working together to build positive habits and keep learning at the center of everything we do. Thank you to our students and families for your support as we continue to reinforce this important expectation.
Please review the consequences listed below for students who do not follow the phone corral policy. We appreciate your continued support in helping our Golden Bears make the most of their learning opportunities each day. Go Bears!
TARDY SWEEPS
As we move fully into the school year, maximizing instructional time is our top priority. To ensure students arrive to class on time and ready to learn, we are implementing official tardy sweeps and tracking tardies toward detention effective Monday, September 14, 2026.
Prompt arrival ensures that your student doesn't miss key instruction and helps minimize disruptions for the entire classroom. Please review the detailed guidelines document previously uploaded to the parent portal for complete information on our tardy policies and consequences.
Thank you for your partnership and support in helping our students build habits for success!
