2026-2027 SLLIS Updates
A Letter from the Superintendent
May 8, 2026
Dear SLLIS Community,
As we look ahead to the 2026-2027 school year, I want to begin by thanking you for your continued partnership, trust, and engagement in our school community. Over the past several months, we have taken a deep and thoughtful look at our current year data alongside extensive stakeholder feedback gathered through surveys, focus groups, and ongoing conversations. This continuous feedback process has helped us identify a clear set of priorities that will guide our work moving forward and inform our new Strategic Plan.
Our key areas of focus for 2026-2027 include:
Strengthening core instruction across all grade levels
Continuing to build teacher capacity through high quality coaching across all programs and grade levels
Enhancing classroom management systems and consistent discipline follow-through
Deepening implementation of our dual language model across all classrooms
Accelerating student progress toward biliteracy in all three program languages
Ensuring alignment and coherence across programs, grades, and languages
Across all feedback, one message came through clearly: the need for additional, consistent support for instruction at SLLIS. From classroom management and instructional coaching to creating curriculum alignment and ensuring our dual language model thrives in every classroom, our community is asking for strong, aligned systems that help both students and teachers succeed.
To meet this need, we will be making updates to the SLLIS organizational structure to better support our programs across three languages and all grade levels. As part of this shift, we are excited to introduce a new leadership role: Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.
We are proud to announce that Dr. Lisa Tariq will step into this role in 2026-2027! Dr. Tariq has served as SLLIS’ Special Programs Director since 2022, where she has led with expertise, vision, and a deep commitment to student success. In her new role, she will oversee instructional systems, support program coherence, and work closely with school leadership to strengthen teaching and learning across the organization.
In addition, we are strengthening our on-the-ground support for both students and staff by expanding key roles within our building. While we currently have two Instructional Coaches and two Assistant Principals, for the 2026-2027 school year, SLLIS will have three Instructional Coaches and three Assistant Principals, with one Assistant Principal assigned to each floor. This structure is designed to provide consistent, accessible support at multiple levels of our organization. This will ensure that teachers receive timely coaching and guidance, students experience strong and responsive leadership throughout the day, and families have clear points of contact. By increasing our presence and alignment across teams, we are building the conditions necessary for every classroom and every student to thrive.
Two members of our leadership team will also be receiving updated titles that more accurately reflect the scope and impact of their work. Our current Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Anthony Graham, will take the title Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Administrative Services. While he will continue to lead our Human Resources and Operations functions, this title better captures his oversight of these two critical areas at SLLIS. In addition, our Enrollment and Data Director, Ms. Jennifer Ting, will take the title of Chief Enrollment Officer. This new title recognizes the strategic importance of her work to grow enrollment and strengthen awareness and interest in SLLIS across the broader community.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and for the many ways you contribute to the success of SLLIS. We are excited about the path ahead and look forward to continuing this work together!
With appreciation,
Dr. Meghan Hill
Superintendent
