Letter from Mrs. Tapia
Dear Wildcat Families,
We are off to a fantastic start to the school year, and I’m grateful for the energy, excitement, and teamwork that has already been so evident on campus. Below are some important updates and upcoming opportunities for you to stay connected and involved at Altamont Creek.
Thank You for a Wonderful Back to School Night!
It was wonderful to see so many families at Back to School Night. Your partnership and enthusiasm help set the tone for a successful year of learning and growth for our Wildcats.
Principal Coffee – Wednesday, August 27
Please join me for our first Principal Coffee immediately following the Spirit Assembly on Wednesday, August 27. This is a casual time to connect, ask questions, and share ideas. (See flyer below for details.)
Walk, Talk, Rock – Our Conflict Resolution Strategy
We are introducing “Walk, Talk, Rock” to help students solve small conflicts. Students are encouraged to:
-
Walk away if things get heated,
-
Talk it out respectfully, and
-
Rock (rock, paper scissors).
We’ll continue to practice this together so students have tools to work through challenges respectfully.
Attendance Matters
If your child will be absent, please call the Attendance Line at 925-454-5575, then press 2. While we understand that illness and emergencies happen, every day of school matters for your child’s learning and success. Thank you for helping us build strong attendance habits!
Community Service Day – September 20
Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 20! We’ll be hosting a Community Clean-Up Day at Altamont Creek as part of the citywide Community Service Day. Families and students are encouraged to sign up and show their Wildcat pride.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Safety
For the safety of all students, please follow all drop-off and pick-up expectations. Stay patient, remain in your car, and follow staff directions. Working together helps keep everyone safe.
💡 We are also looking for family volunteers to help support the drop-off lines. If you’re interested, please sign up below!
Volunteer at the Wildcat Buck Store
We are looking for parent volunteers to help with our Wildcat Buck Store on Fridays starting at 9:15 AM. This is a fun way to celebrate positive behavior and connect with students!

School Site Council – Parent Members Needed
We are seeking parents interested in serving on our School Site Council. This important group helps guide school decisions and supports our academic goals. Please see the information below if you are interested.
PBIS Committee Volunteers
We are still looking for parents to join our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Committee. If you’d like to help strengthen our schoolwide culture of safety, respect, and responsibility, we’d love to have you join us. Please contact me at atapia@lvjusd.org.
Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to our Wildcat community. Together, we make Altamont Creek a safe, welcoming, and inspiring place for every child.

A Call for Altamont Creek School Site Council Members
Be Part of Our Team!
Altamont Creek Elementary School seeks FOUR new parent members to serve on its School Site Council for the 2025-2026 academic year. The School Site Council meets four times a year and meetings are open to the public. Members serve a 2-year term.
According to GreatSchools.org “The school site council (SSC) is a group of teachers, parents, classified employees and students (at the high school level) that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. The members of the site council are generally elected by their peers. For example, parents elect the parent representatives and teachers elect teachers.”
“Successful school site councils, regardless of their specific agendas, are more than a “rubber stamp” committee, and always ask thoughtful and challenging questions.
School Site Council members don’t just represent their own interests. They have an obligation to make decisions that will best serve the whole school community.”
If you are interested, or would like to nominate someone, please fill out the bottom portion of this form and return it to the office no later than Friday, September 5.
Elections will be held electronically shortly after the application deadline.
