The Pritchett Post -- 9/18/26
Home of the Panthers!
"Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence." – Robert Frost
Dear Pritchett Families,
This week our school celebrated “Peace Week”. This Pritchett tradition was started in 2012 on the 11th anniversary of 9/11, now known as Patriot Day. The goal was to bridge September 11 with an emphasis on patriotism and heroism, with the message of creating peace at school, home and in our world. We want our students to think about the freedom we have as Americans and how we can use our freedom to be the change we wish to see in the world. We encourage social action as well as simple acts of kindness. Please spend some time talking to your child about what peace means and how you can share peace in your lives.
Today, September 18, children created pinwheel and throughout the day close to 400 students will place them in the school's front lawn as part of the international effort, "Pinwheels for Peace". It is inspiring to be a part of such a wonderful event!
For your children,
Dr. Moreland, Principal
The Panther Cup & The Panthers of the Week!
At Pritchett, we love celebrating our Panthers when they show our core values: Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. We have two special ways we recognize our students for doing the right thing every day:
The Panther Cup: During specials (Art, Music, Library, PE, and Technology), classes can earn up to three "Big Panther Paws" per class period for great behavior. Every Friday, we count up the paws. Two classrooms win the traveling Panther Cup for the week—one from K–1 and one from 2–3! Congratulations to our first winners pictured below!
Panther of the Week: Each week, classroom teachers choose one student who truly shines in living out our core values. These students are recognized during Friday morning announcements, receive a certificate in the main office, and join our weekly group photo (pictured below!).
Thank you for partnering with us at home to reinforce these positive habits. We are so proud of our students and proud to be Panthers! Please see the expected positive behaviors matrix below and review with your child.

The Zones of Regulation
In addition to our implementation of the Second Step program, and reinforcing positive expected behaviors with our PBIS matrix, we will also be utilizing The Zones of Regulation with our students. Created by author Leah M. Kuypers, The Zones of Regulation helps children acquire skills to help them regulate their actions. This in turn leads to increased self-control and problem solving. In essence, there are (4) colors associated with various feels. Our goal in using The Zones of Regulation is to create a common language for all students and staff to utilize. Below are the colors and associated feelings. Families may want to incorporate this at home as well.
September Reading Challenge
Ms. Boznos invites all students to participate in this September's Reading Challenge! Click on the flyer below to see what Ms. Boznos has prepared! Please note that books read by parents count. Happy reading!!
Change in Transportation
For example, if your child takes the bus every day and you are picking them up for a doctor's appointment at 2:30, please send a note that morning. In an 'emergency' situation you may send an email to Ms. Barraza via email at ibarraza@d102.org. Unfortunately, we will not be able to honor any emails/calls after 3 pm.

FIRSTact Bus Monitoring System
First Student has implemented a new bus monitoring system called FIRSTacts. This system quickly and efficiently captures inappropriate behavior and instantly shares it with Dr. Moreland and Mrs. Robinson. Students who are reported will receive communication through email regarding their child's misconduct. Various disciplinary measures will be issued including suspension from riding the school bus.
To ensure the safest transportation possible for all of our students, please take a moment to review the following bus etiquette with your child:
- Remain seated, facing forward
- K-3 students must sit in their assigned seat
- No eating or drinking on the bus
- Use inside voices
If you have specific questions about FIRSTActs please reach out to our Director of Transportation, Ms. Denise Koto (dkoto@d102.org) or First Student.
