Back to School
Hello,

We have been hard at work getting ready for Tuesday's new school orientation event followed by ice cream on the playground. It's going to be very busy with probably 200 families moving throughout the building. Parking will be tight so plan a little extra time to find a spot and if you live close enough, consider walking or biking. I have added a lot of logistical information below to help keep everything running smoothly.

We will be at a table in the lobby with class lists and and will direct you to your child(ren)'s rooms if you need help. If you can't attend the event, I will send a link to all of the teachers' presentations.

We can't wait to see everyone on Wednesday for the first day of school! If you haven't completed your child's registration or turned in their immunization records, please do that on Tuesday so they are able to attend the first day of school.

See you all soon.

Leah Wheelan, Principal

Arrival

After you park, please enter the correct door for your child's grade.

Kindergarten - Enter through the doors near the playground (purple on the map)

1st - Enter through the main doors and head to the classrooms in blue on the map

2nd - Enter through the doors near the express car drop loop (red)

3rd - Enter through the main doors and go right down the first hall (green)

4th - Enter through the main doors and go up the stairs (orange).

This should avoid a back up at the front door of the school. Plan to be in your child's room by either 1:35 or 2:05 so the teacher can start on time. You can visit the teachers in the cafeteria or library anytime between 1:30 and 2:20.

Detailed Schedule

Orientation Schedule:

  • Classroom teacher presentations: 1:30 - 2:00 PM

  • Repeated classroom teacher presentations: 2:00 - 2:30 PM

  • All other teachers will present in the cafeteria: 1:30 - 2:30 PM

  • Ice Cream on the playground: 2:30 - 3:00 PM

  • School tours for new families: 3:00 –3:15 PM

The class presentations are repeated to allow for families with multiple children to attend more than one presentation and/or to allow families to meet all of our other wonderful non classroom teachers that will be presenting in the cafeteria or library. If you want to meet your child's special education teacher or you have always wondered what ELL means or you'd like to know how a reading specialist teaches your child to read or you are curious which year your child will learn to play the recorder, the cafeteria is the place to go!

Please note:

  • Your children will need to remain with you and attend the presentation(s) with you

New 3rd Grade Teacher

Lindsay Couture has joined us this year as a third grade teacher. She just moved to the Upper Valley from Louisiana with her family last week. She is starting her 15th year as an elementary teacher and we are very excited to have her on our staff!

No Changes to the Traffic Pattern for Drop Off and Pick Up

We are going to continue to use the loop in front of the new classrooms as an Express car drop off in the morning. It will be important that you use this loop only if your child is ready to get out of the car. If you or your child needs more time, you'll park in the lot and walk your child to the car loop. The students will head straight to the playground if they arrive before 8:00. The blue line on the map below is the Express car drop off loop.

Car pick up will be out front with no changes from last year. You will come in the 'V', park, and then join either the K-1 line or the 2nd - 4th grade line. The 'V' is the yellow entrance on the map.

Thank you in advance for driving slowly and carefully at pick up as there are a lot of people, strollers, dogs, etc. crossing the road. As always, we will have staff outside at drop off and pick up to help direct traffic.
