News from the NEST
McDonough High School
Warhawk Families,
As we begin the week of October 26, thank you for your continued partnership and support. We enjoyed welcoming families to Curriculum Night last week and sharing the learning taking place at McDonough High School. We hope you left feeling more connected to your student’s teachers, informed about their progress, and equipped to support their success.
We also have an achievement to celebrate! McDonough High School reached a school-record graduation rate of 90.4%, increasing six percentage points from 2025 to 2026—the highest growth in the district. This milestone reflects our students’ hard work, our staff’s dedication, and the support of our families. We are proud of this progress and committed to helping even more Warhawks reach graduation prepared for what comes next.
This week, we recognize Red Ribbon Week, reinforcing the importance of healthy choices and a drug-free future. We encourage you to talk with your student about making responsible decisions, handling peer pressure, and seeking support from trusted adults. Every positive choice helps protect their goals and future opportunities.
We also invite you to join us for Cluster Conversation on Wednesday, October 28, at 5:30 p.m. at McDonough Middle School. This is an opportunity to connect with our school community, share your perspective, and participate in conversations that support students across the McDonough cluster. We hope to see you there!
As we move further into the semester, please continue reviewing your student’s grades and attendance together. Celebrate improvement, discuss missing assignments, and help your student create a plan to address areas of concern. Daily attendance, arriving on time, and actively participating in class remain essential. If your student needs support, please reach out to their teachers so we can work together early.
Thank you for being part of our Warhawk community. Your encouragement and involvement make a difference as we help our students finish the semester strong!
Dedicated to Student Success,
Dr. Blasingame
